I have an ancestor I'm trying to follow a potential lead for, but cannot access the full record (not a subscriber to the one place I can find possible has it online, and not in the right country to go in person to view the records!).

I believe that I'm looking for BT113 and/or BT114? I'm not overly familiar with the ticket system, so I may not be correct!

REID, Adam - Ticket #537701 (or it may be #537707, the script was not 100% clear). On board the Marchioness, 1852/1853, from Table Bay to Port Adelaide.
REED, Adam - Ticket #540171 (I think!), indentured apprentice on the Hilton Grove, at Shields, 1851. (I can see basic info on the register of indentured apprentice engagements, but not the ticket itself?) He wasn't from Shields, however was there at least to sign up?

Just wanting to see if the ticket itself has any additional info, so I can try and see if this is the ancestor I am thinking it may be!

Moderator comment: topic locked since there is another post on the same subject here:

Australia / Re: SA state archives request - GRG 29/1, 29/121, and GRS 13461

Hi Valerie!
I’m interstate, so can’t go ask in person. I’ve had a good look at their information online, and if I request via email, then there’s a cost involved, which I unfortunately can’t justify at this point in time sadly!

Have replied to other discussions, but cross-posting here just in case!

Also interested in the Reid/Keneally etc family, and hoping to be able to make contact with Sashar or others who may be able to assist!

Australia Lookups completed / Re: McCOY from Pt Augusta - Qld/NSW connection

It’s been a few years since this thread was active, so hoping that some of you are still active on here!

I’m also interested in the McCoy/Reid line, but finding that a lot of available information online (other people’s family trees) seems to be incorrect (as in, contradicts information from more reliable sources like marriage certificates!), doesn’t have any source available, and can’t be verified. Seems like a lot of people copy family trees and repost it as fact when there’s nothing to support it?

Looking for family info that is verified by certificates or records (births/deaths/marriages/military etc), information from Trove, etc. I’ve found quite a lot so far, but still have a huge amount of gaps as well! I’m lucky in that I started this journey at a time where it’s a lot easier to access family history records online!

Hoping to get a copy of the information from AJO mentioned, or some more information from Sashar!

Australia / SA state archives request - GRG 29/1, 29/121, and GRS 13461
« on: Monday 10 March 25 07:32 GMT (UK)  »
Hi All!
Fairly new to family research in SA, and needing some assistance in accessing some records from the state archives. I’ve found the names on the indexes, but it appears these specific records aren’t available online, and can only be viewed/copied in person, or ordered via request with a cost.
I was wondering if anyone was local and would be heading in to look at records, and might be able to also help me out by looking up the ones I need?

GRG 29/121 - mandates committing children into care (1880s)
GRG 29/1 - SCD correspondence files (1891)
GRS 13461 - admissions to the lunatic asylum (late 1800s)

(I’m also unsure of how that process looks/how easy it is to find/view/copy records, so I have a bit of a list, with a few different names, and am happy to cut it back to prioritise the ones I need most in discussion with whoever might be able to help!)

Thanks in advance!
