Ireland / Re: Census 1901/1911 - Missing townlands or Streets

The National Archives didn't send me records, but they immediately acknowledged the problem. They said they were auditing the 1901 and 1911 censuses to fix errors in the online data. Here was their reply:

With regard to your enquiry, I’m writing to let you know that when the 1901 and 1911 census returns were microfilmed in the 1960s, some townlands were accidentally omitted, which explains why the townlands of Damoily, Enagh and Kilmachugh are not included in the online census.

As part of the redesign of the National Archives website and digitisation of the 1926 Census, we’re currently auditing the 1901 and 1911 censuses. All omissions and errors reported are logged and are being checked by our project team prior to site re-launch.

In the meantime, you're most welcome to visit the National Archives to check the hardcopy catalogues for the 1901 census for Armagh for reference to the townlands of Damoily, Enagh and Kilmachugh.

Once their inclusion in the catalogue is confirmed, you can then order the original returns to consult in our Reading Room, should you wish to do so. Please note that the census returns are held in off-site storage and are made available for consultation two working days after they've been ordered.

For details on visiting the National Archives, please see our website at www.nationalarchives.ie/visit-us.

Wishing you every success in your research.

Thank you, Jon_ni, for the links. Unfortunately I found that Damoily, Enagh, and Kilmachugh townlands were missing on the film too. Clady More townland, in the DED of Clady, was immediately followed by Canary townland, in the DED of Tullyroan, at https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HY-DKRS-N7T?cat=138066&i=317 and https://www.swilson.info/tools/census_nav2.php?curl=https://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/reels/nai000386015/.

I guess my next step is to contact the National Archives and hope for the success you reported in Reply #57.

Where are 1901 census records for the townlands of Damoily, Enagh, and Kilmachugh?

Looking at the National Archives site, for the DED of Clady in Co. Armagh, the census records have six townlands in 1911, but only three townlands in 1901.

1911
https://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Armagh/Clady/
Ballylane
Clady Beg
Clady More
Darnoily
Enagh
Kilmachugh

1901

Ballylane
Cladybeg
Cladymore

Townlands.ie confirms that there are six townlands in the Clady Electoral Division, https://www.townlands.ie/armagh/clady/
