Searching the National Records of Scotland catalogue won't help with material held in Glasgow City Archives.
Thanks for your reply. My understanding is that it is possible to search the NRS catalogue for records that are held in the Mitchell Library. For example, the below reference for the Calton Old Kirk Sessioni, which the NRS site shows as held off site.

Would it be worth asking the Edinburgh City Archives if they have any information about it?

Thanks for your thanks but I am still in the dark about whether the people named on the entry I found have any relevance to your enquiry.
I spent I a bit of time at the Local Studies checking this out. It would be nice if you could post if the name I sent by pm relates to the person you are interested in.
Probably not, but it is nice to know the outcome even if turns out to be not the hoped for one. You don't need to post details as it seems you want this private.
But it would be nice to have some feedback about how successful or not all my researching was.
