Brilliant, thanks for everyone's help.
The mother's maiden name is Broomfield. I was able to pick it up her death certificate on Scotland's people, although her age was wrong by 10 years, however correct on her burial documentation.
So much other information given as well, very grateful.
I have been struggling with the the various spellings of Gatherum as well.
From the various census, Mary and James were often apart and I was wondering how common this was in the mining community. My ancestors were agricultural labourers/crofters in North East in Aberdeenshire/Banffshire and seemed to stay relatively fixed to the area and together.
