I am not sure how we are related to the Manchester family as the head John Devote born Italy is not a son of Jacob so does not fit into our tree.   We have a John Devote born 1844 Jacob's first son,  I have the marriage cert of John Devote Manchester and he puts his father down as Andrew and married an Emma Royle.


I have a John Devote on my tree, the birth date doesn't quite match up but he did marry an Emma. From my Ancestry 'Lifestory':

John Devote was born in 1847 in Italy. He had three daughters with Emma Devote between 1877 and 1880. He died on June 6, 1933, in Manchester, Lancashire, England, at the age of 86.

I don't know Emma's maiden name or his parent's names. Do you think it could still be the same person? He was an ice cream vendor, then delicatessen owner and his wife was an umbrella maker.

The John Devote born 1847 in Italy who married umbrella maker Emma and had a daughter, Selena, is my 3rd great grandfather. He started off selling ice cream in Blackpool and ended up with a delicatessen in Manchester. If he is the John Devote you are looking for it would be great to connect and share information.
