Thank you so much, Ciderdrinker and QueenoftheWest, I'll check that family out. The dates seem to correspond. If he joins the 66th Regiment of Foot and ultimately arrives in St Helena, that'll be him. So hoping it is. He's been a huge brick wall.

Armed Forces / William Weller, 66th Regiment of Foot, St Helena

I'm looking for info on my great x 4 grandfather, William Weller. He arrived in St Helena in around 1820 and with the 1822 muster roll served under Captain Sampson. In 1822 he married Mary Burnham Alesworth and they had three children: Elizabeth Hurry Weller, James Robert Weller and Joshua Weller. Mary Burnham Alesworth died in 1844 and William then married Louisa Roberts. William died in 1846 on St Helena.

Before William Weller arrived on St Helena,he went to India in 1815 on board the Beaucephalus \Bucephalus and was with the 66th Regiment of Foot. Before the war he was a labourer. His estimated birth on that record is 1786. This info was given to me by the British and Asian studies.

I'm trying to find when and where William Weller was born, who his parents and siblings are.

If anyone can help, I would be ecstatic and greatly appreciate it.

Thank you.

Hi. I'm trying to find the following info on my great x 2 grandfather Henry Kalmer:birthplace, birth year, who his parents and siblings are.

Henry Kalmer married Ann Jane(Jane) Caroline Brown in Cape Town in 1878. They had several children. Henry is listed as a mariner and labourer on baptisms and their marriage certificate. Henry died at Somerset Hospital in August 1900 and is buried in the same plot as his wife and mother-in-law, Elizabeth Brown nee Wilson. Jane was born in 1860 and died in Parow in 1940.

Henry's death certificate says he was 63. Estimated birth year is 1837 in England. Marriage certificate says born 1840.

I can't find any records of him arriving here and anything prior to his marriage to Jane.

Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thank you.

Hi. I'm trying to find information on my great x granny Elizabeth Brown nee Wilson. She married William Brown in Cape Town in November 1849 and they had five children. I don't have much on the children, other than their daughter, Ann Jane(Jane) Caroline Brown married Henry Kalmer in 1878 in Cape Town. Jane and Henry are my great x 2 grandparents.

An Isabella Wilson is listed on the baptism of one of Elizabeth and William's children, namely Emma Isabella Brown on 10 November 1856. I'd love to know how she's connected to Elizabeth.

Elizabeth Brown nee Wilson died at Somerset Hospital, Cape Town on 13 March 1899 and is buried in the same plot at Maitland Cemetery as her daughter, Jane and son-in-law Henry. Elizabeth's death certificate says she was 70 and estimated year of birth 1822 in Scotland. Burial records say 1829.

I'm trying to find when and where Elizabeth Brown nee Wilson was born, who her parents and siblings are and Isabella's connection to her.

Thank you.

Hi. I'm trying to find out when and where my great x 3 grandfather, James Ball was born, who his parents and siblings are and when he died in Cape Town, South Africa.

The only info I have on him is from when he married my great x 3 granny Elizabeth Hurry Weller in Cape Town in 1849. They had five children. Two died in infancy. On the baptisms of the children and the announcement of his marriage he is listed as being with the 73rd Regiment of Foot and received the 1853 War Medal.

His wife, Elizabeth was listed as widow Ball in Cape Town 1866 and she married John Duncan that same year. Elizabeth died in Cape Town in 1893 on 2 August.

Also trying to obtain his full military records.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
