Ah! So maybe the Harty entry was the "extra" one done later for some reason. Thank you!

I've attached the records I've got, they don't seem to be bishops transcripts but not sure?

(Need to scroll to the right as it's on the right hand side)

Hi Jebber, I suppose what I found strange is it was recorded at all in the one they didn't physically get married in - I didn't realise that happened. But if that's what happens sometimes that's useful to know too :)

It is odd, isn't it? I wonder if it's just an error but I can't think how or why.

Hi everyone,

Not a request for specific searching help but was just curious about an ancestor's marriage that was recorded in two different churches on the same date. They're not banns, but actual marriage entries (I found the originals on FindMyPast). I've not seen this before and wondered if anyone with more experience has seen it before? Is it quite common? Sorry if a daft question, I tried to google it but nothing comes up (only stuff about banns in different parishes).

John Mockett m. Jane Safferie (Saffery) on 30 June 1720 - recorded in both Fordwich, Canterbury (by licence) and Harty, Sheppey.

Thank you!

Hello everyone,

My mother in law has asked me to find out some information about her father's war service (he never spoke about it before he passed away). I'm going to apply for service records using the .gov link helpfully provided in this forum but am trying to find more information to make the search more specific, especially the regiment he might have been with, as there are a number of personnel with the same name and year of birth (Thomas Alcock born Nov 1912)

She has shown me this wonderful menu her father kept from a Christmas dinner in 1945 in Baghdad(I believe he'd stayed on until 1946 to help with rebuilding). I've tried to search what 345 REWS might be but nothing comes up. CRE I believe is Corps of Royal Engineers, but when I google that with BR 31 nothing comes up. What might BR 31 be, please? And is CRE different to REWs? She believes he had something to do with maintaining pipelines in Iraq during the war. Sorry for my bumbling questions, it's a whole different language to me!  Thank you for any pointers you might have, it's much appreciated.
