Thanks for the hint of using the . as a wildcard search on NZ BMD website. I will see what I can find as I don't know where the marriage would have taken place and only know who the groom was and not the bride. Thanks everyone

These are two different situations. I only know one party from the 1927/1928 reputed marriage. It may be a mis-transcription and I will use the hint of using . in the surname to do some more searching. I don't want to post the names of the 1950's marriage as one party may still be alive. I just wanted some ideas for other places to search which people have posted so thanks everyone.

I have a baptism date of 12th August 1821. I am looking for the date of birth for Edward Mercer
Father Thomas Mercer, mother Tryphena Penelope Mercer
Thomas and Tryphena married 1 October 1820 at Kingsdown with Mappiscombe.
Edward was the first born.
Tryphena was a widow and her 1st husband had died 9/5/1819. Her maiden name was Wells, 1st married name was Barton
