The death of my grandfathers brother, John James, at one year may have been the reason for my father being called those names. The use of two first names seemed a bit uniusual at that time. Thank you once more for your interest and information.

My father, John James McGowan was born in Ballyshannon on 5th October 1924. My grandfather was Thomas McGowan and my grandmother was Annie. Their address was Erin Street Ballyshannon. Dad had a brother, David and at least one sister. Her maiden name was Patton.
