This should help at least to understand the Freighduff Mahers:
Patrick and Timothy (Thady) Meagher were brothers.
Timothy Meagher of Freighduff born c. 1785 died 16th February 1854 aged 65, buried in Ballysheehan ancient church cemetery. From two monument headstones at Ballysheehan comes the following information:
Timothy married Margaret Ryan who died 18th March 1881 aged 86 years.
Their son James died 24th January 1882 aged 64.
James’ wife was Ellen who died March 1900 aged 82 years.
Of Timothy and Margaret’s children, James stayed in Freighduff, while Catherine and John migrated to Australia, William and Patrick became Irish priests.
James and Ellen had a son Timothy Maher who died 24th March 1932 aged 73 years. His wife Nora (nee Lee) died around 1933.
Buried in the same spot are their infant grandchildren Francis and Thomas Forde.
Timothy Meagher had a brother Patrick Meagher also of Freighduff (Freaghduff).
Patrick senior is not mentioned on this headstone, do not know his date of death.
His son Patrick died 19th November 1842 aged 22 years.
His son Thomas Maher died 24th November 1894 aged 83 years.
His daughter Bridget died 4th June 1897 aged 82 years.
Patrick’s son Timothy died 25th September 1915 aged 92 years.
His wife Johanna (nee Lee) died 11th August 1903.
