Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Re: Beautiful House but where is it?
« on: Thursday 27 February 25 20:24 GMT (UK)  »
I've been looking, Groom.  ;D

Not easy to find, but I think I've got the 1901 details.
Living in the vicarage, was Nathaniel Castleton Stephen Poyntz/Poynter (54) and his wife Helen Willes Poynter (37)

RG13 Piece number 1140 Folio 115 Page 1

They're still there in 1911.

Hi, I hope you're well.

Sorry, I have to correct the surname. It's Poyntz not Poynter. Willis Minor not Willes  ;)

Berwickshire / Maggie/ Madge/ Margaret Armstrong - Chirnside missing person
« on: Saturday 15 February 25 18:16 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

I am looking for Maggie Armstrong Born 28 Oct 1911 Chirnside. The parents are Adam Afflect Armstrong and Agnes Craig. She was the youngest child. sister Mary Craig and brother Samuel Armstrong.

I have been unable to find any death certificate

The only information I have is her birth certificate and the 1921 census.

https://www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/viewer/BL/0000470/19540119/024/0002?browse=False

On the British newspaper archives, I came across an article from her sister published in  Berwickshire News and General Advertiser - Tuesday 19 January 1954

The following appears in "The News of the World" in the missing column: Armstrong, Margaret (Madge), Last heard of 1937 when she left Glasgow for Newcastle-on-Tyne. Inquirer, Sister Mrs Mary Steel, 104 Prior Road, Tweedmouth, Berwick-on-Tweed

I keep looking but still cannot find anything else about this. I also can't find the original article.

Has anyone heard about this? or would anyone know what else I could do?

I have been told that the British Library have the archive of the News of the World and I will go down there when I can narrow down the date it was published.

Thank you for your time

The link below leads to over 200 photos of mostly Berwickshire families and places. They belonged to my grandparents Oswald Skene and Elizabeth Virtue Nelson who lived at Bogend Farm near Duns
