Gloucestershire / William Charles Trott
« on: Yesterday at 13:17 »
I am hoping someone could kindly tell me what to do next?
William Charles Trott born 1841 Bristol, married Elizabeth Coole in 1866. Parents John and Charlotte Trott.
In 1858 William was an apprentice to a Mr Frederick Green to learn to become an Ship Carpenter. On the 1871 he is now a Ship Carpenter.
I can find no information afterwards, his wife Elizabeth also disappears until 1891 when she is a widow.
I have now come across this information on ancestry and just wandered if it could be the William I am looking for and how do I find out?
"William Trott, record type Crew. Birth year 1843, birth place Bristol. Vessel name Joseph H Scammell, vessel type ship.
Voyage departure date 29 Sept 1884, voyage port Saint John, New Brunswick Canada. Voyage arrival date, 25 October 1884, arrival port Liverpool, vessel reg no j884033, vessel reg place St John New Brunswick, year constructed 1884.
Date joined ship 29 Sept 1884, joined at Saint John New Brunswick, Crew no 12.
Discharged 25 October 1884. Rank Able bodied Seaman"
William has been on the brick wall list for a number of years with no luck.
Any help would be appreciated

Thank you Shaun, yes I have seen that marriage entry and it looks convincing but there are several John Trotts from Bristol/Somerset area.  I do need a birth certificate to sort this feeling I have about Charlotte,

Thanks Neale, the trouble is I am not sure if John and Charlotte Trott are Charlotte's parents.  No problem finding birth reg for her siblings William Charles b 1841, Elizabeth b 1842, James b 1847, George Henry b 1851 and Rhoda b 1855 all born in Bristol although sister Elizabeth's birth reg was in Taunton. Also the Trott family came from Somerset.  In 1851 and 1861 Charlotte is living in  Bristol with a Aunt and Uncle, Chas D Burk and his wife Elizabeth. I did think it was a extended family but can find no connection to John and Charlotte Trott.
