Hello,
I need help deciphering an inquest into death, mainly the words/names surrounding mother and father.
I am researching John George Loder, born 1864 and died 1910 at 46 years of age from an accident in Brisbane. I am a DNA match with one of John George Loders descendants.
I believe this to be the brother of my GG Grandfather William Louder whose parents were unknown.
On his marriage and death certificates it lists John George Loder's mother as Albina Webster and father as John Andrew Loder a "Gentleman".
Suggests he was born in Lancashire England C1864 and newspaper articles and the inquest suggest he had lived in QLD for 40 years and was uneducated, which would mean he came to Australia at around 6 years old, however, I can't find any records...and if his father was a "Gentleman", why was he not educated?
There are zero records for an Albina Loder/Webster and John Andrew Loder that I can find, that would match.
My thoughts are that he may be referring to John Andrew O'Reilly of Brisbane, as he was possibly hired out to him as a servant when he was still just a boy.
I have found John, William and George Louder admitted to St Vincents orphange 2nd sept 1869. Boys were sent to orphanage when father, John Loder was sentenced to 7 years penal servitude for Horse Stealing and horse killing in Dalby July of 1869, lists mother Mary as unfit to care for children.
My GG Grandfather William lists Dalby as his birthplace on his marriage certificate and his birthyear was somewhere between 1863 and 1865.
John Louder was hired out as a servant in 1874 to a J O'Reilly of Brisbane - possibly about 10 years old. I have found some details for a John Andrew O'Reilly in Brisbane who was coincidently living in the same suburb as John George Loder when he married his wife Elizabeth Fern.
The prisoner John Loder died in 1870 at St Helena at the age of 63 which would put his birth c1807. I think this is actually John LEATHER that arrived in 1824 at 17 years of age after being sentenced in Lancashire England. The Goal description books list details of tattoos on right arm in 1835 for the same John Leather, which are very similar to the tattoos listed for the 63-year-old John Loder.
I ahve been down this rabbit hole for months and months trying to find William's parents and although I feel like I have made some progress....I could be completly on the wrong path.
Anyways, any help would be appreciated
