Still searching, does anyone know of an explanation for 30 years of no records pls?

Between 1721-1760, no marriage, birth of children etc. I've even been checking old Jacobite records in case he was transported somewhere and returned after punishment?

I have found an Alexander Angus born 1722, son of James Angus from Perthshire. Interestingly Alexanders eldest son was called James.

I've seen that there was two Alexander Angus one married in 1758 to a Mary Cook and one to Mary Clarke in 1760. I didn't think they were the same person.
Fascinating information on the sons. So if he was recorded as a victualler and then gentleman later, could this indicate a military background.

Hi

Yes it does seem likely. I discounted the Edinburgh Alexander son of Thomas born 1721 as I found that he died 25d old.

If he was employed as a victualler serving alcohol to ships I wondered if he was linked to the Navy.
