Hi-have just seen your post on the Garnetts. Like you, Richie, I have Agnes Garnett b 1658 wife of Thomas Townson. I have only just started work on this line and hope the Ancestry hints are correct with the Anthony Garnett of Castle Dairy heritage! I have a William Garnett of Rusmickle Farm as Agnes’s father and Anthony, also Rusmickle as his father. It then goes to James Garnett. Am a bit confused by the Crosby Ravensworth mentions also Elizabeth Dent of Morland (I have her in my tree elsewhere) as the wife of William. Any info you have gratefully received. Thank you 😊

Hi - Samuel McKnight born 1711 in Ochiltree to James McKnight is mentioned in one of these threads. He moved to the Westmorland area and married (not sure where)Ann Partridge?
They were in Torver and then moved to Cockfish Hall, Kirkby-in-Furness, then in Lancashire. The couple appear on records as both Knight and McKnight, adding to the confusion. They were buried within days of each other in March 1795 at St Cuthbert’s, Kirkby. I am descended from them via their daughter, Agnes who married George Riley in 1773. Would be interested to know more about the McKnights and what brought Samuel down to this area.

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Re: Birth & marriage look-up Samuel Knight

Hello - this is an old thread but I have Samuel Knight died 1795 of Cockfish Hall, Kirkby-in-Furness as my 6 x great grandfather. Father of Agnes, James, John, Richard and Thomas. His wife was called Anne. I have no birth record for Samuel - or for his daughter, Agnes. No record of his wife’s birth or death. I have seen that her maiden name was Partridge but don’t know if that’s correct. By the way, your query about the name Kirkby - there are a lot of Kirkbys in Kirkby! They were the major land owners there.
