I’ll check that marriage now, highly possible due to birth of Benjamin Powell Shortly after

Hello All! Recently discovered a branch of my tree that has proven to be a bit of a rubix cube!

The person in question is

Ada Powell born 14th June 1873 in Garndiffaith

I purchased her birth certificate which gave me her mothers MN as “Dowding”

Other Birth’s of this mn
Benjamin Powell 1866
Jane Ann Powell 1868
John Samuel Powell 1869

Ada’s marriage to Joseph Thomas 4 October 1890 states her father was “James Powell” a Miner,

1881 she’s living with John Evans & Ann Evans in Garndiffaith and labelled as “Grandaughter”

1871 Benjamin above listed is living with john & ann also listed grandchild

No marriage traceable for a James Powell and Mary Dowding, and Birth Registrations aren’t existing with Mary Dowding mmn Evans

Anyone else got the brains to work this out?

However, i feel this doesn’t provide us much information, we know he was a copper man, and that he was born around 1826 but this doesn’t tell us wether he was the husband of Margaret, perhaps we can try find margaret’s reg

Hello Everyone, i seem to really struggle with the Carmarthenshire side of family history, and was hoping i could get some help?

So the person in question is Lucy Jones born 20/04/1849 at Wern, Llanelly, Carmarthenshire to Margaret Hugh & Griffith Jones

In Griffith & Margaret’s Jones Marriage they had 6 Children,

Mary Ann b.1845
Margaret b.1851
Griffith b.1853
Morris b.1854
Elizabeth b.1857
Harriet b.1861

1851 ~ Family are residing at Wern
1861 ~ Family are now residing at Llansamlet in Neath (District)
And by 1871 the siblings above are living with Lucy Jones in Llangyfelach, Swansea

At this point Griffith Jones & Margaret Hugh have vanished,

I did find an 1841 census for Llanelli that states the abode as “Wern” that feautured
William Hugh & Margaret both born 1796
Eldest daughter Margaret, (dob fits in with Margaret Jones,
And siblings
Eliz
Harriet
Mary Ann
David
Henry

Some of these names are similar to Margaret jones Children, and coincidentally both are situated at Wern, Griffith and & Margaret married 1848 in Llanbeblig, but Margaret has married as hughes, 7 year prior, would make sense for the family to be situated at wern, having that been the birthplace for Lucy in 1849

Definetly interested to see what happened to Lucy’s siblings and Parents

Elizabeth Wareham B.1889 daughter of Mary Ann Stock, might have changed her name to King?

I think you might possibly be correct about the William/John error in terms of them being Sibling’s, the apparent siblings of Annie Elizabeth King (i.e) John King’s children don’t coincide together date wise, with them being born close to the early 1900s, William king would have already been well into his fifties
