Not sure this will help but on the VRs 1905 there's 2 Proprietors, Gardner & Stirton & a Tenant Miss Mary Scott.

All 3 are no. 51 & all 3 are 'Shop'

What was the mother's occupation on the BC?

Add...1895 there are a lot more names with same address

Add...She may have been a Lodger at the address i.e. her name wouldn't appear on the VRs
Thank You Annie I think Ive solvedit thanks for all your help

Annie
I'm doing some research for my friend , her grandmother was adopted in 1900 and on her birth certificate it says 51Nicolson Street. when I try to search the address it says it can't be found tho on Scotland Gro it says 45 people !were there but cannot access any names ! I would appreciate any help I have been told that there may have been a lying in hosp there.

In 1900-01, 51 Nicolson Street was apparently a tobacconist shop

The maps don't show any sign of a lying in hospital.

Nicolson Street is the wide street running from north to south on the map towards the right hand side.  There was the Royal Blind Asylum nearby.

Nell
Thank you great help

I have just read all this info and wonder if anyone can direct me to a good research site or guide me where to look, my gt uncle(whom I never met) fought in WWI with ? 36th(ULSTER) division of the Irish Rangers(he was shell shocked in the war) and I have been told last night that he was an Orangeman. He was born in Derriaghy in 1885 and was called Robert Waring Orr

:)My James & Martin where both married in 1843 , Martin in the 2nd quarter & James in the James in the last quarter, James had a son called James who in 1870 married Maria Bent who was the younger sister of my Gt Grandmother. They where married in Islington so I assume that is where they lived. Are these the same as your family and if so where abouts did they originate from in Galway
Cheers
