Hi RTL,

I would think Tibby was buried at St Mary’s as it seems to be the ‘main’ burial place in Morpeth.
Sadly I’ve not found Joseph’s burial yet. Given he died at Scotland Gate I’m thinking he was buried either at Choppington, Netherton Lane/Westlea or maybe even Cowpen. I have a theory his wife Mary Ann Allen was buried as “Mary Caney” in Morpeth on 13 April 1886, as Mary Ann died on 10 April 1886. So maybe he was buried under the wrong name like her. Hopefully I should get up to the Woodhorn archives soon to have a proper look.

Tibby did have a very sad life didn’t she.  :( I noticed she died not long before Michael was conditionally pardoned. She died of heart disease and dropsy, the informant was a Sarah Trotter of Union Workhouse. Have you ever found her in any census after the 1841 one? I’m still trying to find the charge that Tibby apparently got in July 1859 as Elizabeth Allan.

I think that Tibby & Jane must’ve lived in Newcastle in the late 1850s.

Thank you for the information about Ellen’s marriage. I noticed her son was named Robert but his birth was actually registered as the name John in 1858 (unless obviously it was two different sons, but I’ve not found any other Morrison births with Allen/Anderson MN in Newcastle).

Thank you, that’s very helpful and makes a lot more sense.  ;D

I know Mary Elizabeth’s father Thomas Rutherford was buried in Whalton in September 1903 (I have a copy of his his funeral card). This seems closest to where Charles died aswell.

I'm more than happy to be corrected, but Bonas Farm seems to be near Ogle, not Ponteland  :-\

Bonas Hill, not farm! Where did I get Farm from  :-[

Charles’ obituary says it was Ponteland but Ogle makes much more sense as the Rutherford’s lived at Ogle Mill before.

Ponteland, Bonas Hill, at the residence of his grandmother, on the 10th inst., Charles Rutherford, infant son of Mary Elizabeth and the late Thomas Marshall, High House, Morpeth.

The names sound familiar, have you posted about this before?

I’ve posted the family before trying to find out what happened to Thomas’ older brother. Charles Marshall, he drowned himself at Bishopwearmouth in 1890.

How tragic - Mary lost both her husband & son within a few weeks.

If nothing can be found online - as you have their actual death dates you could try ringing the records office who may be able to help you

Thanks, that sounds like a good idea. They were both so young.

I have my suspicions on Whalton & Mitford being where Thomas was buried but no clue for Charles as he died in Ponteland.

Hi,

I’m trying to find the burial of a man named Thomas Marshall and his son Charles Rutherford Marshall.

The family bible states;

Thomas Marshall
Born 9th November 1874
Bapt 7th February 1875 par of Mitford
Died 25 Oct 1909 aged 34 years
Married Mary Elizabeth Rutherford at Whalton Parish Church 8 Jan 1902
Had three children; Annie Winifred (3 Jan 1903), Thomas (20 Oct 1904), Charles Rutherford (1 Nov 1908).
Resided Morpeth High House, Mitford Factory
Coachman for the Rayne family

Charles Rutherford Marshall
B. 1 Nov 1908
Bap 6 Dec 1908 parish of Mitford, sponsors Eleanor Ann Rutherford & William Rutherford
 Died 10 Dec 1909 aged 13 months
Funeral 14th Dec 1909 (does not specify where)

I have their death certs and know that Thomas died at High House, Morpeth and Charles died at Bonas Hill, Ponteland.

Any help is greatly appreciated :)

I came across a Curry Lamb in my tree.

Curry wasn’t even a family name.

I’ve seen it where widows put their marriage length even though their spouse is dead, but not recording the (newest) marriage is odd.

Eleanor Watson their daughter born at 5 Percy St

1911 census states Eleanor Watson’s marriage length as 32 years so is it possible her marital status here was referring to her first marriage, not the one with Frederick?

John Blenkinsopp m. Eleanor in 1879 which adds up 32 years in 1911. Of course she’s a widow from him though.
