Thanks so much Monica for trying to find info for me - much appreciated.
A relative of ours - now deceased- told us that John was raised as a Hoggan - his parents were John and Helen Hoggan nee Buchan.
Helen had a previous marriage to a McFadyen who was killed in the Blantyre mine disaster of 1877.
We were told that later she had a child called John who was assumed to be a Hoggan but when his death certifcate was found the name Stonebanks was recorded as his surname.
We cannot find any info on him.

John and Helen Hoggan (Buchan) are my great grandfather and grandmother. Thomas Bonar Hoggan (their son) was my grandad.
My mother has a copy of their marriage certificate.

I think I am researching the same line as you.
My ggg grandfather was Robert Hoggan who was married to Jean Horn. I am trying to find Robert's father (who I think was called Matthew - but am not having much luck). Are you able to provide me with any names for Roberts mother or father?
Do you know if anyone has any photos of Robert Hoggan and Jean Horn?
I will let you know if i come across any info.

I am after information on a Matthew Hoggan - who had a son Robert born 1778. Robert married a lady named Jean Horn in Denny in 1802.
Any info would be appreciated.

My mother and father, Olive & Daniel Hoggan, will be visiting Scotland later this year. Dad has relatives buried in Muiravonside Cemetary and is hoping to find the gravesites.
His father, Thomas Hoggan, is buried there - he has visited that site, but he is looking for his brother, Alexander, who was born in 1927 and died in 1934 aged 7.
He is also wanting to find the site of his father's sister, Helen Sorley, (Nellie nee Hoggan) who was married to Alex Sorley.
Also the site of a John Stonebanks. (Hoggan)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
