Thank you Arthurk, Craggagh and gaffy for your detailed replies, I will do some more research on the sites you mentioned.  Gaffy, I don't have a record of a James but it appears John came to NE England to work in the new steel mill as they show up on the 1861 census.  There was John who was 24 with his brother Patrick 21 along with three sisters, Margret 25, Mary Ann 23 and Rosey 15.  I will need to do more research to try and find their parents and other siblings if possible.  Thanks again for you help.  Matthew

Hi, my GGGrandad filled out a census in UK that states he was born in Coolmaghary, Co. Tyrone.  His name was John McGeoghegan born in 1838. However, I have not been able to find this place on any map.  Can anyone help me trace this please?
