The Stay Safe Board / Re: Diary summary week ending 27th July 2025

My skin has started to burn very easily in the sun. Last week my left ear had swollen with sunburn. I couldn't get my finger in to scratch it. Similar to your description Viktoria. It is now well on the way to normality, thank goodness. I am well aware of my problem, and haven't been out in the sun until after tea time just for a minute or two. I would have thought the sun would have less effect as you aged. Live and still learn.  ;)

Linash seems to get some connection with Russia. I don't know why though  :)
I'd have said Flinash but what is the scroll like a bracket before the f ?
I think his wife is 'Manchester'
Visitor possibly Liverpool
I suspect the letter at start is an S with some of it too faint or missing....Guess...Shi(e)rashovo
Look at the S's beginning the occupations.
This is an AI overview. I don't normally like these. Do you think it's right ?
In 19th-century Russia, the term "Shirash" likely refers to the Circassian genocide, a period of forced displacement and ethnic cleansing of Circassians and other groups from the North Caucasus, resulting in mass emigration to the Ottoman Empire.

Travelling People / Re: Lock/Locke/Taylor

Hi. Would you be able to send me a copy somehow? I've been looking everywhere for grandad Johns recording but only came across a YouTube cover. I want to hear it played by himself 😊. It had been on a music or audio library apparently but their website was hacked a few years ago and it was lost. You're the first person I've found to still have it. Maybe by email if it would fit or a link to it on Dropbox or Google drive if you have that?

No probs. I've messaged you. I played fiddle and I think I've got a viol player in my tree, but I'd be so chuffed if I was descended from John.
Cheers. Jim

In case there is a faint possibility that you don't know. There is at least one recording of John Locke, it was originally made on a wax cylinder. It sounds beautiful. I often go back to it to listen. I just tried to upload it for you. Unfortunately the file size is too great.

Quote from Aghadowey, 'and it may be some people that listed their birthplace as 'Germany' in 1911 but as some place else in 1921'
Yes, I only know Saxe-Coburg ended in 1918. Did people put Place of Birth before then as Belgium,Germany, or Saxe-Coburg. Did they not then become born in Belgium or Germany so increasing the numbers ? I've never found any so I have no idea what might have happened.
I know Queen Victoria's grandson was a Nazi politician and German General, quite a mess. His inheritance in Esher Surrey was confiscated by HM Government.
