Cheshire Lookup Requests / Re: Miller family
« on: Saturday 25 October 25 20:22 BST (UK)  »
North Cheshire couples often went to Manchester or Liverpool to marry.  Have you considered samuel Miller married Elizabeth Darwell  in 1813 Walton on the Hill  (Liverpool).  There certainly seems to be an Elizabeth Darwell born in Halton in 1791.   As for Martha Miller's birth she is listed before Hannah in  Samuel Millers list of children in his will.

Apologies
I assumed that being in Cale Green and Mayer street it might have something to do with the Mayer family - I was after all searching Rootschat for Mayer! A bit of googling has led me to a couple of sites which say it is the former Cale Green Institute. A Cale Green Conservation document seemed to imply that it had become a chapel comparitively recently

I know nothing about the geography of the area or chapels  but remembered that both of them were described as 'of Cale Green' in their wills.

Matthew Mayer (1740-1814) and his son Joseph Mayer (1775-1857), both of Cale Green, were founders of the Sunday school, I think.  If you google joseph you will see a picture of what the Sunday School looked like.It was huge!

Completed Census Requests / Re: Bradbury 41-51-61
« on: Thursday 30 January 25 16:02 GMT (UK)  »
Hello I am descended from the Bradbury family of butchers in Knutsford.  I have looked in to Charles and Mary before and concluded that Charles died in 1828. (FindMyPast) which would seem to make sense as he didn't have any children after 1826.  Find my past shows children born between 1806 and 1826 so I wondered about the marriage to Mary Reynolds in Manchester 1804.

His date of birth in the death record is given as 1781. This would seem to fit in with the illegitimate son of Mary Bradbury born in 1782, but I am not sure how she is related to the family of butchers shown in the 1841, 1851, 1861 censuses.  For her to be related I expected her to be a daughter of Joseph Bradbury and some trees on Ancestry show a Mary born in 1761 daughter of Joseph which i shall check.
Yes Mary Breadbury daughter of Joseph butcher born 1761

Cheshire Lookup Requests / Re: Abraham BLACKSHAW b 1806/7 Mobberley

Hello again
I don't know whether you have had chance to look at Alderley 1811 census at https://ebc.byu.edu/Home   By a stroke of luck the records for Alderley in 1811 are one of the few available. Ages, but not occupations or relationships, are recorded.
Unfortunately some of the Blackshaws in Great Warford are recorded as Blackshan.  I found my James in the household of Peter Blackshan(w) which does not seem to help me further.  A record on  the same page is for William (aged 29) and Elizabeth Blackshan(w) with a Hannah Blackshan(w) (there is some doubt as to whether she is a child aged 7/12 or an adult aged 70.)  This William does not seem to match the William who married Molineux as they would have had a son William, I think. There is no mention of Abraham.  I hope this helps.

My 3 x great grandmother was Mary Kelsall daughter of John Kelsall (1797-1850) of Stretford and Margaret Holt 1798-1839  (although I am the only person in the world who believes she was Margaret Holt).

Cheshire Lookup Requests / Re: Moss Family Of Grappenhall Cheshire
« on: Wednesday 10 January 24 09:36 GMT (UK)  »
Thomas and Alice are buried in Grappenhall Thomas aged 67 in 1803.  Alice aged 88 in 1826
A son Samuel  died in 1784
There is a marriage licence on Findmypast which gives Alice's age and father.  Is Thomas not the Thomas Moss born in Grappenhall in 1737?
Samuel died in Edgley so perhaps you should be looking in Stockport for his siblings.  If you are not already subscribing to Fandmypast I suggest you do as it is by far the best for Cheshire records.  Additionally you can purchase grave records from the Family history Society of Cheshire

Hello
I eliminated Elizabeth Blackshaw daughter of Peter and clarinda as she was already married when James was born in 1787.  Yes Ann Blackshaw is part of the same family. She  had an illegitimate daughter (Phebe) and later married someone called Simpson. She is in the same grave as Abraham (1764 -1788)  son of Peter and Clarinda.
Daughter Phebe (Hewitt) is in the same grave as Peter and Clarinda.
Yes I am convinced  that the master that James was apprenticed to was Peter Blackshaw (1753 -1832) of Great Warford buried in the same grave as Peter Blackshaw buried 1753 aged 61. (born 1698)
Have you looked at the will of William Blackshaw 1733 - 1815?  I know Sinderland is about 8 or 9 miles from Mobberley, but this William was a bricklayer.  He had a son William.  He had  a daughter Betty who died at the age of 29 in 1791.  His daughter Martha married John Holt in 1798 and an Abraham Blackshaw was a witness.  Is it possible the Mobberley family and this family are linked way back. (e.g. both sons of Peter Blackshaw born 1698)?
