Thanks Trish and boydi,

 Trish,
He doesnt seem to have died,i have found him on 1841 census,so,either he
wasnt transported after all which seems unlikely as p records said transported these last two years,or he was transported, served his sentance and returned.

boydi,
I have noticed that James aswell and wondered about him, trouble is,i am decended from the James that is Richards first born,so if it is him,he too must have returned.

Thanks again,
Gerome.

Johngirl,
I'm glad your not giving up your research, this is a great hobby (all be it a frustrating one at times!lol)and i think it gives you information that is good to pass on to your children one day.I have gained a lot from my research,a great set of relatives on my paternel side, where before i had none, and maybe although it sounds a bit strange, more of an understanding of who i am and where im from.So carry on,enjoy yourself and how bad can it be to keep the memory of people alive?

Sussex Lookup Requests / Looking for Walter...
« on: Wednesday 04 April 07 15:26 BST (UK)  »
hello everyone,
I was wondering if anyone could help me locate any trace of my greatuncle Walter Coombes. In the 1901 census he is at at my childhood home at 2 Beach rd Eastbourne Sussex aged four with my granddad who was eight and their parents,Richard James Coombes and Jennie Francis Coombes, after that i can find no trace of him, though there was a story that he emigrated to Canada, though i don't know if there is any truth in this.
Would be glad of any help people could provide,
Thanks Gerome.

Hi,
Glad i was of some help,i had heard they were developing the site, aparently, the only part they cant touch is the church,as it is a grade two listed building.Sorry,i cant help with the records, not sure where they would be held or if you could access them.

Hi,
I come from Eastbourne(thoughnow live in Essex),you have probably found out now about the sanitarium, but here goes, there is a hospital in Eastbourne near the downs called All Saints,it was closed about five years ago.My Mother worked there for twenty years as a nurse,it has its own church, was run by nuns and used to be a TB hospital.
Hope this helped,
Gerome.
