:) You two have been great in assisting my request for Mum on the Sellens.

Looks like John was the eldest chlild of eleven and that the father Robert died in 1831.  I wonder if Robert was from Crowhurst or just living there in 1831 when he died if so did he also originate from Sedlescombe.  One of the reasons I enjoy family history so much is that its never ending.

Will pass everything on to Mum.
Thanks again

Many Thanks - that was quick. Maybe the Gentleman Mum met confused with John Robert Sellen as John Sellens son of Robert!!  I will give the info Mum to pass on - I think their next meeting is in a couple of weeks.  This should help him and may encourage him to do some more research on the family.

Thanks again

Sussex Lookup Requests / Sellens - Crowhurst and Sedlescombe
« on: Wednesday 09 March 16 10:11 GMT (UK)  »
Looking for John Robert Sellens 1787-1831 who married Mary Button.  This was all the information a gentleman at a local family history meeting my Mum attends in Essex seemed to have.  I've tried to help Mum out as found the marriage transcript at Crowhurst 31 March 1811.  Is anyone able to check the parish records just in case any addition info.
There is a John and Mary in the 1841-1861 census that I have found that has John of Sedlescombe  about 1788 and Mary of Crowhurst 1791.  The IGI for Mary has her parents as William and Sarah. Is anyone able to check the parish records for John.  I have no idea where he gets the Robert from and the death at 1831 from.

Very confused and am stumped without looking at the originals as one should never assume anything!!

Thanks

Staffordshire Lookup Requests / THORLEY and SWINNERTON of Hanley
« on: Wednesday 24 October 12 09:59 BST (UK)  »
Trying to confirm that the children of a William and Hannah Horley in the 1841/1851 census are from the marriage on 16 Sep 1833 between William and Hannah Swinnerton.

If anyone is able to look in the parish records for a birth of William Thorley 1811/1812 and a Hannah Swinnerton 1812/1813 as both state in census they are from Hanley.  Does the marriage entry contain any more details to the IGI (I doubt as just too early).

Many Thanks

I have John and Amelia Newman in my tree.  John was from Bulkington in Wiltshire.  I have found no trace after 1861 census.  Ancestry trees have a few mentions on the couple but nothing verified.
