And my initial inquiry was really about the Church of Golden Bridge, which I still haven't got anywhere with.

I read that anyone doing Mangan family history believe they are linked to the 19th century poet James Clareance. Does anyone know where James father was from? Is there a published family tree to see if ones Mangan roots are linked or not? Has anyone done any research in this area?I think you are quite right about the link to James C Mangan. Apparently, my grandfather told all of his children that his Uncle was James Clarence Mangan. We now realise he was probably telling one of his tall stories.
The only info I have is that he was born in 1803 and had two siblings. He was the son of James Mangan, a grocer, and his mother was Catherine Smith. Was his father from Shanagolden, Co Limerick?
