Many thanks, that information is fantastic.

I'll just drop you a private message on RootsChat with my email address, as RootsChat only allows small attachments.

Many thanks for the photo that's really interesting and is definitely a match for the photo I've got (attached).  No worries on the date of the news paper archive, I'm sure I can track that down.  I've got a snippet too, that talks about his funeral.  I think I'll have a go at looking through more of the news paper archives, as it sounds like there's some good information there.

Many thanks for the information you've posted, that's really interesting.  If you've got any other details of the William Bowles line, I'd be really keen to see them.

Do you know what the date of the paper cutting is?  I'd not got any details of William Bowles's father, so that's fantastic, as it not only gives his name but his date of birth (roughly) and the date he died.

I've attached an exert I found in a Victorian Nottingham book that describes a bit more about his time in the police force.  I've also got a picture of him, which I'll dig out and post.

Hi,

I'm just starting to research William Bowles Raynor and came across these interesting posts.  My tree is:

George Raynor  1902-2002 (my grandfather)
William Downing Raynor  1876-1961
Edwin Raynor  1847-1927
William Raynor  1826-1900
William Bowles Raynor  1802-1874

I know these posts are quite old now but I would be really keen to chat to anyone else who has also been looking for details on him.  I've found some interesting background information on his time in the police from a book called "Victorian Nottingham - Police courts and prisons".

Thanks,

Tim
