Dublin / Re: The Coombe & Ash Street

Thanks for the info. I have found quite a few of these records, but not the one about the money so I'll have a look for that. They definitely had a hard life. I'm unsure if there would be any Clarke's related still in Dublin as my grandfather and his sister moved to Wales but we think Victor stayed in Ireland, possibly Cork.

Thank you both, I have come to the same conclusion that Victor was given the name Frederick but they later changed it to Victor, he was baptised as Victor 5 days after he was born. I have already found them on the 1911 census but cant find them on the 1901 either, they could be in another part of Ireland but I've yet to find it. Their father (my great grandfather) was in and out of prison most of his life and I have found a number of newspaper articles about him but not seen the one you have mentioned, I can't see that you have put the link to it? If not can you tell me where you have found it so I can have a look. Thnaks.

I'm searching for any information on my grandfather Augustine's family the Clarke's who lived in Ash Street and The Coombe from 1898 to 1938, his father was called John and he was a street musician, mother was Catherine.
His brother Victor married Bridget Dodd who also lived in the same area. Any information would great, would love to know if there are any Clarke's or Dodds still in the area.
