Thank you very much, John!
Those are my Rainbows alright! I found William (b. 1801) in the IGI with parents Caleb and Hannah, but had never found John before. At last, the possibility of getting further back with my Rainbows  :D!
Thank you very much!

Hello Katie! John Rainbow and Eleanor draper are my x3 grandparents. I am a decendant from Lucy rainbow. They were Roma gypsy and came from Buckinghamshire.

Which sibling do you come from?

Kind regards
Andrew

Hello Darren,
I am a direct decendant from Eleanor draper and John Rainbow, their daughter Lucy rainbow is my ggx2 grandmother.
They were Roma gypsies and were born in Buckinghamshire. Eleanor had siblings Kisby, Darnity, billy, ellick, Spencer and Israel.

John Rainbow already had children with s Lavinia Draper and she passed away young and he quickly married Eleanor Draper after.

It also states on my matches that Israel's son is called Nelson, and there are brothers and sisters, one sister called comfort, who married welch.

Hi Emma, just a correction to my last post.
Eleanor draper, daughter of Mary cotchin and William draper, had half brothers Israel and Spencer draper. They show up on my DNA matches on ancestry. So I am guessing that Mary cotchin had them from a previous father or William had them from a previous partner. As the match shows as my half x4 great uncle. So it would have been my gggg grandmother's half brother. I will post a screen shot of my DNA matches.

My gx4 grandmother Eleanor Draper seems to have been the second wife of John Rainbow, his first wife was Lavinia Draper, and I had read somewhere that John had stated he was a bachelor when he married Eleanor as Lavinia was her aunt.
John Rainbow and Lavinia Draper seemed to have 3 children together and then she died, which is when he then remarries Eleanor.

Ellen Draper was the older sister of my umpteen times grandmother Darnity Draper.

Lavinia, John Rainbow's first wife, died at Cranfield, I have the death certificate.
I think he claimed he was a bachelor when he married Ellen - I have the marriage cert - because I have a theory that Lavinia was actually Ellen's Aunt, or otherwise related to Ellen, and they were worried they were committing an offence by marrying because of the relationship.

We need to contact each other so I can tell you lots about the Draper family.

Hey Darnity!
Thanks so much for commenting and reaching out!
How can I give you my contact? Maybe I can message you my email!?
Kind regards

He shows himself as a bachelor when he married Eleanor

Oh that's interesting

I suspect Ellen/Eleanor Draper was a second wife

1851 - all surname Rainbow

John 46 b Northants - Yardley Hastings - general dealer
Eleanor 27 b Beds - Ridgemount
Judith 18 b Northants - Yardley Hastings
James 7 b Bucks
Spencer 4 b Kent
Mary Ann 2 b Bucks
Piece 1723 folio 481 page  8

Thanks for sharing the census record, that's them. Lucy Rainbow was born in 1851 so it's likeñy Eleanor was pregnant at the time.
And yes, John Rainbow married Lavinia Draper first and they had children together, then he married Eleanor Draper. I'm not sure what happened to Lavinia.

Thanks
Kind regards

Can you include birth years/birthplace/ marriage years in your post please?

The Rainbow/Tatham marriage was 1875 & Lucy was born 1851

Ellen nee Draper is a 41yr old widow in 1861 with a 25yr old dtr so marriage was pre 1837.

Hello, thanks for the reply.
Yes of course,
Lucy Rainbow was born 1851 to Eleanor Draper and John Rainbow.

She married George Tatham and they had several children together.

I would appreciate any info on Lucy and George, or Eleanor and John, and would love to connect with anyone else who is related to them or has any photos!

Kind regards

www.romaheritage.co.uk/parish-records
From the BMD records, if you place ‘draper’ in the Filter Text there are 39 records from 1709 to 1861. Most are Baptisms, 7 Burials and 2 Marriages.
There is only Elizabeth Rainbow bp. Aug 26, 1827 at Clifton Reynes, Buckinghamshire.
For Webb, there are 5 Baptism records from 1699 to 1841
Their Census records has one Draper family of 3 individuals on the 1871 census in Ruislip, London.
All of these records are recorded as travellers.
Added: Newspaper article: 3rd April 1782, George and Charles Draper were executed. There is nothing on their database for Rainbow or Webb.

Hello, thanks for the info.
Yes I have had a look on freebmd and freecen but doesn't appear to be many results.
