Flintshire / Re: Richard Bithell

So I did find a Richard Bethel married a Esther Maria Jones nee Williams on 25 May 1846 at St John's in Liverpool.
Richard is a flatman (which I expected) and a widow (expected as his wife Mary Jones died in 1824), his father Richard is a flatman (Richard's father was also called Richard). They married by Banns. Esther Maria is also a widow, her father's name is Thomas Williams so her birth name must be Esther Maria Williams. There is a marriage for an Esther Maria Williams marrying a John Jones on 14 May 1830 so this must be her.

The other interesting bit is that in 1841 Richard is living with a lady called Esther Morgan. The name Morgan is pretty hard to read but I believe this could be Esther whom he later marries.

Another clue is that on his arrival in Tasmanian he gives his wife's name as Maria, which I think is Esther Maria.

Would love to know your thoughts. Am also intrigued on what other research you may have on Richard.

Thank you third cousin.

Am out and about at the mo, doing this on phone. Will check the info and reply properly later or tomorrow. Off the top of my head he remarried in 1846 in Liverpool to an Esther Maria Williams.

Hi Ray.
Richard is my 4xGreat Granddad. I'm descended from him through his son William, then his son Henry. Are you related to Richard too?

Hi, Thanks but the bottom row refers to a different convict. My chap is the middle one. I included the one above and the below my entry so people could get a better idea of the handwriting style.

Hi Wivenhoe,
Well done! Yes he arrived in Van Diemens land in 1853. He is married on the 1851. His first wife died in 1824 and he married again in 1846. I've checked his siblings and the two brothers end up in Liverpool and Birkenhead and the sister in Yorkshire so that's correct for Wakefield. Yey! Many thanks. I'm glad I've found this forum.

Wivenhoe -are you familiar with these records? This chap had a grown up son who isn't named in this section. Can't help but wonder why.

Many Thanks Shaun. You have confirmed most of what I thought. I believe his wife was called Maria, the letter in front does look abit odd and is always follows by a woman's name.
It so great to have the rest confirmed, phew, I am barking up the right tree!

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Convict Arrival record

Hello,
Am totally new to RootsChat so bear with me. I need a bit of help with this handwriting. Its on a convict arrival record and it is a colum titled 'Remarks', all the words written in this section appear to be names which I take to be next of kin.
I know what I need it to say but would like to have my suspicions confirmed by others if possible. It is the middle row that I am would like confirmation on but I have included the row above and below to help with the writing style.
Many thanks

Hi. I realise this thread is fairly old. I have been doing a fair bit of research on Richard Bithell and his prison records so if anyone is interested let me know.

Hello Frank,
I cam across this thread after researching my ancestor Richard Bithell. I realise these posts were done several years ago so I just wanted to see if you are still researching the Bithells and if we could compare notes. I am descended from Richard's grandson Henry Bithell.
