Hi there,
I am very interested in following this story as my line of Clarks come from Alloa Scotland and the name (albeit common) James is very prominent in our family. I am still working on the tree and have predominantly followed the line to New Zealand where I am from. Out of interest have you noted there was also a J E J Clark (2973971) in the Argyll and Sutherland highlanders around the same time as James and his name also appears in the newspaper article 13TH Janurary 1944. After a search it appears they miss printed his service number and it is actually 5973971. Family maybe ???
I have searched both these soldiers on Forces War Records but not come up with much more information -J Clark (202637) only gives me his service number and Duty Locations along with the obvious rank, nationality and Regiment.
I'm about to start my 84 hour work week of night shifts but once done will follow this up more on my week off. Very interesting indeed and hopefully a family member can be located, even better if it was my family  :)
