The Common Room / Coal Porter at docks- Poplar
« on: Friday 23 May 25 12:44 BST (UK)  »
Hi all , my 2nd great grandad was Samuel Tugwell (1861- died in 1923 Poplar ) His wife was Elizabeth Sarah Bunce.

His occupation was a coal porter working at the dockyards. Im trying to find out anymore information on him. I cannot seem to trace any form of a probate either.

Any ideas where I can look more up on his work life ? Probate? Thank you

Hi all

I have a brick wall for William Bailey/Bayley
He is my 4th Great Grandad born around 1796 (chistlehurst or deptford) died 1872 Greenwich Union.  I am looking for his family and his parents.

I have found him living with his sister Caroline in 1861. His sister Caroline is a widow under the surname of BEDFORD. It looks like she has two children called John and Eliza Ann. I cannot find them under her maiden name so i think they was children who belonged to her husband. I cannot find a marriage cert between Caroline in her maiden name to Bedford. I think she was married before she married the Bedford man. I am struggling to find this ..

William Marries Diana Dean  1822 • Bromley, Kent...
In 1841 he is living in Chistlehearst Kent with Diana and his family. Surname was spelt Bayley job occupation Ag Lab. They have 5 children including Charlotte Bailey who is my 3rd great nan ...
all born in deptford ...

i would appricate any help...Thank you so much

George definitely had no middle name? Too many others to consider as DOB often not given. For example, there is a GA Gorman in the Royal Engineers in 1939.

Hi!

nope he has no middle name

The parents of these 2 boys are (James)JOSEPH Gorman and Eliza Walker, married jq 1896. By 1901 parents are with 2 daughters Annie 1896 & Eliza E 1901. By 1911 the 2 boys are in a school in St Charles School, Weald Road Brentwood Essex, South Weald, Essex, England.

SS

added, 1921 are Eliza, Annie, Eliza, & William--mother a widow, no George.

Thank you . I have noticed the lads being placed in and out of union workhouses too . Did they marry ? Thank you
