Hi

Yes I am still looking at this family.  Have you found evidence of Isaiah’s birth or evidence of his parents?  Would be grateful of any assistance in that respect.

Thankyou

TB

Hi  :)

May I ask what connect you have with the family? I see from your previous post that you also had established a paternal lonk to a Samuel Perkins, as did I a few years ago but retracing my steps to reconfirm this have proven difficult. Nevertheless, I had noted siblings John (b. 1780), Thomas (b. 1784), Daniel (b. 1785), Hannah (b. 1788), and Samuel (b. 1792).

Both Isaiah and Daniel are noted in nespaper publications as living in Barton'. Daniel married Elizabeth Baker in 1808, Breedon on th Hill.

What I can retrace with confidence is that Isaiah is noted in through the https://www.familysearch.org/search/collection/2840172 in connection with 8 children:

William b.1821
Mary b.1823
Thos b. 1824
Thomas b.1826
Martha b.1828
Sarah b. 1830

All born / registered in Heather

James b. 1832
George b. 1836

Are born in Carlton

Joseph b.1839 is noted in the census'

Isaiah's death cert' states 'Senile Decay' on 29th March 1860, Barton.

I have the parish records from Market Bosworth, Perkins records are:

  • Thomas Palmer Marriage 5 NOV 1792 Hannah Perkins; B from St. Martin's Leic; w, Thos Jaques
  • William Perkins Marriage 23 JAN 1816 Ann Wright; w. Sarah Jordan
  • Jane Perkins CHR 11 May 1817 William, Ann
  • William Perkins Marriage 13 Nov 1845 Father Isiah Mary Ann Hands Spouse's father William Hands; w. Thomas Perkins
Isiah does not feature in any other place in the registers. b. 1796 seems plausible.

Hi, thanks for researching this  :)

I too have struggled to find Isaiah in any birth records, nor his sibling Daniel - they are both noted in newspaper articles as based in Barton In The Beans.

Hey!

Isaiah Perkins (b.1796) is my 5th Great Grandfather.

I have been researching my Perkins surname for a few years now... have you made any progress with your search?

Happy to help if needed :)

Neil

If he had joined the Armed Forces before the 1939 Register was compiled, then he won't appear. ;)

Hey KGarrad,

You're indeed right, and I'm m sincerely starting think this may have been the case  :-\

Have you already discounted the freebmd entry for Robert P Thompson died Gateshead 1961 aged 59?

Unfortunately - Deaths on GRO online stop at 1954 so can’t check his middle name

Hey CaroleW,

I had to double check but, yes, I have already reviewed this entry... I believe this person was born 1902 and his middle name was Percy

This also reminds me, there was another Robert P Thompson in the Durham area who marries Alice G Petty in 1946 Sunderland ... unfortunately, its not him either

Have you got his exact date of birth to check on the 1939 register?

I'm sure you have already tried different spellings of the surname  :-\

If his mother left a will he may have been mentioned - when did she pass away?

Hey Milliepede,

His D.O.B on the cert is 27th Feb' 1903, but my searches of 1939 Reg have drawn blanks, despite various spellings... it's possible he ditched the 'P' (Pritchard) and this links to his Father, but this is just an assumption based on the lack of entries for such an otherwise easy name to search for (if listed in full)

His mother, Sarah, passed away 1949 in Coventry and unfortunately did not have a will. She moved from Durham along with her youngest son George (my great grandad) during WW2 , which wasn;t the wisest of moves given the circumstances in hindsight!  ::) haha

I'm open to any suggestions and questions, and thank you so much for looking into this!  :)

Hello all, I am looking for my great granduncle who is proving to be somewhat elusive after the 1921 census.

Born in 1903, East Castle (Durham), Robert Pritchard Thompson (his middle name Pritchard links to his patriline) grew up with his siblings and cousins along with his mother (Sarah) and aunt (Catherine) in Tanfield (1911).

I have since located him as a boarder living with the Slater family, in Tantobie, and working as coal miner driver at the Delight Colliery, employed by Bowes & Partners Ltd... After this, I am struggling to find a faithful trace for him and would really appreciate any leads  ???

For clarity, his mother and siblings, Selina and George, both relocated to Coventry during WW2 seemingly without him, as I cannot find any certs or documents to locate him after 1921.

My eyes are aching from too much screentime, researching this, haha! So a massive thanks in advance for your time and contributions

Hey all,

Thanks for the responses ... been a while since I've had sufficient time to do more research (hope that's understandable!)

From piecing together information from Births / Baptisms, Marriages, and Deaths / Burials I've loosely (but diligently) compiled the following line

Providing here for all to review but also for any potential new leads / future researchers :)

FreeReg has Samuel PERKINS baptism 11 Mar 1761 at Market Haborough, frustratingly gives mother's name "Mary" and father's surname "PERKINS" only. However, other children baptised around this time in the same location have parents Thomas and Mary.

A possibility then for a marriage bewteen Thomas PERKINS and Mary BRAEFILD 17 May 1750 at Market Harborough, both otp.

https://www.freereg.org.uk

Thank you Maddy!  ;D

I seem to have stubbled across the same Thomas Perkins and Mary Brafield on a couple of similar trees (Ancestry) ... although to be on the safe side, its probably best to air of the side of objectivity when reviewing somebody else's 'homework'  :P ... if it is Thomas, and he was baptised April 1730, then his father's name is William!

Some further suggestions / hints generated point to a Joseph Perkins or a John Perkins (both married to a 'Mary') and in the Kibworth Beauchamp, Leicestershiree area or Hillmorton, Warkwickshire... although considering the proximity of Market Harborough to Hillmorton it seems like it would be a rather long journey just to get baptised  :-\

Thanks again for looking, I'm going to delve a little deeper this afternoon :)
