Thank you - I have seen the Mary Edmonds marriage and wondered about it - I'll revisit and see if I can convince myself. Part of the problem is not knowing that area of the country and having to check all the time how close places are to each other.

I belive William Mobbs bapt 1706 to be the son of Joseph Mobbs and Prudence nee Warner who married at Burton Dassett, Warwickshire on 18 May 1702. Helpfully he is decribed as "of the parish of Whitfield". Her surname is a little unclear as the downstoke of an "f" obscures whether it is Warner or Warder - I tend to favour the former. There seem to be at least 2 siblings Joseph baptised 1714 and Thomas baptised 1716, but surely probably some more between William and Joseph.

I then have Joseph as the son of William & Joan Mobbs baptised Whitfield 3 Aug 1682.

I have the sources attached to an Ancestry tree "Plant-Gillingham 03-02 2025".

Thank you, that is interesting. It certainly sounds like Prudence's father who was baptising children in Hethe from 1732-45 though it also sounds a step up in social status - or rather Prudence married down. I've had Prudence in the tree for about 30 years but only just made the connection to her baptism hence the late response to Opal's post.
Thank you

I think we share this Mobbs family and also Bunce. I am also unable to find a marriage between Willaim Mobbs and Mary - I have no idea where the name Phillips comes from although it is included in a number of online trees. My husband is descended from Prudence's son William whose wife was also an unknown Mary.

I have just been looking at this issue in relation to a soldier serving with the Royal Irish Lancers in Risalpur in 1921 so amazed to find your post when Googling.

I found my man, George Gillingham, Corporal 5th Irish Lancers in the army schedules of the 1921 Census at Risalpur, said to be the father of 4 children - I only knew of 2 so wondered where the rest were.
There are civil registration details in the army and overseas registers for a Frances E Gillingham born at Risulpur in 1921.  From the 1939 census she seems to be Evelyn Frances or Frances Evelyn born 17 Feb 1921 (no England\Wales registration found).  I'm still missing the other child.

Would be amazing if you were looking for the same people but if not, it seems families are not enumerated so try the army birth registrations (I found Frances on FindMyPast but not Ancestry so you may need to try both).

Hope this is helpful,
