Thank you for the precise look that you took.  Interestingly enough, her other child has the pointy jaw, also.

Thank you, Daisypetal!  You are right….I, even I, can see the eye likeness.

The Common Room / Re: Family Search Compare-a-Face

I had JUST posted with two of my family photos here, asking RootsChatters if they resemble each other!  I tried doing it at Family Search.  Before I mastered the art of pulling out the correct individual from a group photo, it compared the young man to the Husband of the woman I wanted to have it compared to!  FS said 34% resemblance to the woman who might possibly be his mother.  Which is nice….except FS found a 38% resemblance to the man who is not related to the young man at all.  This experience has shaken my faith in Family Search photo comparison software, if I had any faith to begin with…. ;D

Hello,
I am TERRIBLE at telling who resembles whom.  This question IS geneology related.  Would some of you kind souls weigh in on the resemblance question?
     0 = not at all
5 = wow - they could be twins!

Thank you so much for any guesses you care to hazard!

Edited to add:  compare lady in group photo witn man in single person photo.

The Common Room / Re: Does anyone know of any current Ancestry special offers?
« on: Friday 17 March 23 05:08 GMT (UK)  »
They have a Saint Patrick's Day "sale".  I put sale in quotes because it's no bargain.  My membership (All Access) was due to renew March 25 for $409.  The alleged sale would give me a six month for $181.  Then in six months the price would go back to the normal price of $259.

I was talking to an Ancestry Rep about entering a new source.  I would have liked to enter my work on to Ancestry in the same way I enter it to Roots Magic 9:  Create a Master Source and then just keep reusing it.  Easy Peasey.  But...no.  You can't DO that on Ancestry.  She said "Ancestry and Roots Magic are affiliated."  And I said that Ancestry should follow the lead of Roots Magic.  She wanted to know where I found the source on Ancestry.  I explained that I found the source the old fashioned way.

I bought the book and read it and had facts from that book that I wanted to enter into the Ancestry database properly.  I wanted to cite my source.  Enter name of book, author, who published it when and where...I want to give back because I really appreciate the people before me who did ao much research the hard way.

And boy, do I digress!  When she mentioned the sale I pointed out that sale would cost me $440 for the next year as opposed to $409.  Then I asked if Ancestry offered any discounts.  She put me on hold, came back and said 30% off if I renewed right then.  So I renewed right then 10 days early for Just under $328.

The Common Room / Re: Strange Christian name

Many of my family came from Toledo, Ohio.  Many more came from the South.  In one of those Southern families - with NO discernable connection to anyone in Ohio - they named a daughter the first and middle name:  Toledo Ohio.  How 'bout THEM apples?

Thank you, shellyesq - that's the same Death  Ledger that I mentioned in one of my posts, showing that he died at Toledo State Hospital in 1901.  I had NOT seen the summary of that info that pops up onto the link you added and says he was single - not married.  Oh surprise - yet another monkey wrench thrown into the works.  <trudging along and trying to find a new type of detective hat>  I HAVE been working on the Leeds method just today.  I'll try just about anything to sort all this out.  My funds are limited as far as ordering up death, birth and marriage certificates for all in my tree.

Thank you, RJ137 for the obituary notice on Rose Brown.  I knew when she died and where she was buried, but didn’t have her obit!

To the rest of the helpful people on here:  though intelligent, I can sometimes be hard headed and a bit slow to get the point.  I probably tend to have too much fun with my wild theories.  I am slowly learning just what kind of proof I need for my family tree.  I truly appreciate your suggestions and shall take them as the good advice that you intended.  I did not know that Thru Lines was unreliable and I plan to learn all that I can about THAT.

I will come back to and update this thread as I learn more.  I DID send for the death certificates of both these Henry’s.  The one from Michigan was a waste of money.  NO information, really.  Just a typed document to prove he was dead.  The one from Toledo was not available - the clerk of court office called me and told me that their records only went back as far as 1908.  So I go to the Ohio Historical Society next.

Thank You All!
