Death record for Redmond in 1908

https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_returns/deaths_1908/05502/4541543.pdf

Death record for Eliza Condon.  Notice the daughter Bridget is present at the time of death.... and it shows her surname as O'Brien.... so there should be  a marriage of Bridget Condon to an O'Brien between 1901 and 1912.    The 1901 census records Bridget as Condon so I assume she is single

With the name Redmond.... I have seen a document about this specific Redmond Condon and it suggests that his name was Edmund... but the parish register definitely looks like Redmond.  I wonder if the family used the name Edmund but added an R to differentiate him from the other Edmunds?  I know i have seen the name Edmund recorded as John in my family which is confusing.    Redmond may not have been the eldest son.... which is why his father is known to you as James.   Some trees have the father as William but that doesnt seem to fit the names of Redmonds children..... or his age at death.

Regarding his immigration.  Two thoughts... one is that if he travelled alone, he would need to be around 18 years old... so the immigration would be 1882-1888 (1882 he is 18 and 1888 he marries in Australia).
The other thought is that his siblings came with him... or sponsored his arrival.

Either way, there is an arrival that could be him on the GARONE 5 Apr. 1883.  The port is not as obvious.... could be Sydney, Melbourne or Adelaide.  I think Adelaide is likely because he has siblings there already. And I also know the dairy famer Dwyer family who are related to the Condons had some family in SA at the same time.

The 1901 census shows the parents Redmond and Elizabeth are living in Mitchelstown Cork.... so they didn't come to Australia.

It looks like his siblings....
Maria married in South Australia in 1882.
Cecilia married in South Australia in 1881
Jane married in South Australia in 1880
Kate married in Victoria 1891

so Jane is likely to be the first arrival to Australia.... I think its possible Jane and her husband sponsored the arrival of the siblings to SA, then some moved to Victoria.

I noticed some trees have Eliza Condon dying in Australia.... but I think she died in Mitchelstown Cork in 1912.... the Civil Death record seems to support that... and shows her as a widow which was correct because Redmond died in 1908.

I have attached a few records/newspapers etc that may help.  Some show Bridget McMahon having family all over Australia too.   I will upload some records too

Hi Henwood descendants...

Wondering if your family are attached to mine. You mention locations which have come up for my Henwood family.... St Blazey and Portsea Island... which seem far from each other but I mapped my family.... they moved a lot so I need to dig deeper.

My ancestor is Eliza Henwood (may have been known as Mary), she married Peter Garland (My Garland family have strong ties to St Agnes.... Liskeard

Eliza Henwood is the daughter of

John Henwood (born 1791 in Gwennap and Elizabeth Sleeman born 1785 in South Hill (Callington?)
Eliza was born 1813 in Calstock.

Eliza married Peter Garland in St Blazey but another record (the actual record) says they were married on Portsea Island in 1837.... which is more likely the correct record.

Would love to compare family info... thanks :)

Have any male descendants on Michael Dwyer line taken a Y dna test? I would like to know his halogroup.
Also Mary Doyle Mtdna.
I'm a descendant of Elizabeth Dwyer their youngest daughter.
There is a trilogy series of books written by Gretta Curran Browne on Michael Dwyer life.
"FIRE ON THE HILL"
"TREAD SOFTLY ON MY DREAMS"
"WORLDS APART"
Michael Dwyer siblings are mentioned in the books

Hi Raelene
there is a Facebook group called Condon Dwyers of Australia Genealogical Project if you would like to join.  There are a few different Dwyer families, from different counties but there are some descendants of Michael Dwyer too.  There are a few very active researchers helping to break down the brick walls in our ancestry and find records to share, we would love to have there too. The y dna will only work if the descant is a Dwyer by name really because it follows the paternal line.... can't be a descendant of his daughter (is my understanding). But any descendant of Michael Dwyer who has done their dna can still compare with other peoples dna to see if there are matches.

Matthew - a massive thank you regarding the ship... I learnt something new. I had never heard of the Sloop, so its good to know it was in the name, not the type of ship.

I am too lazy to read the 15 pages of fantastic conversations about the Heffernans, but they are an interesting family from the little I did read a while ago.  I read a Trove article about one of the Mr Heffernan's who was 'exiled' to Australia... his wife arrives in Australia under the name of her cousin... a Dwyer.   The police worked out who she was and she confessed her name was Mrs Heffernan and I believe she was sent to the US....

If there are any Dwyer links (or Condon, Glasheen, Gleeson, Ryan)... around Tipperary then you are more than welcome to come and join us on Facebook in the Condon Dwyers of Australia Genealogical Project. We are just a bunch of Aussies with Dwyers in our ancestry and sharing info, helping each other.

Hope to see you soon :)

Hello Dwyer family
We are hoping you are active and see this... there is a facebook group called  Condon/Dwyer's of Australia Genealogical Project  which was started by John Dwyer, Victoria Australia. His ancestor was Matthew Dwyer from Tipperary, Ireland, born c1795.   I know Matthew's sons and daughter moved to Australia as adults in the 1840s, but we are finding connections to lots of different families obviously.  The group has lots of Dwyers from different branches of the Dwyer family tree, but we are all helping each other find more info and sharing what we know.  We would love you all to join, so we can all find the answers to the mysteries in our family trees.

Hope to see you soon :)
