No wonder i was confused , Larry Bodle was 1393 Alfriston Rd .Manurewa and Dr George was across the road at 1360 at approx location -37.01290713500949, 174.93935763404684 It's a share
The Auckland Council have put it on their heritage list for new semi highway going through Mill Rd , but "don't know where it is" , just in case they need to knock it down. Don't worry , the native bush will save it, there is still a pile behind it, no way they can clear all that bush and put rd through the school. The bush is very original.
If anyone wants to check out George's old neighbors, look at the Olive Davis Cottage .
188 Ranfurly Road, Alfriston, Auckland 2576 . They died in their 90's in 1970 or so , and the house and the bush was left to the bird society on the conditon nobody entered .My mother lived next door for 50 years,we knocked over a few hundred possums as they were destroying the bush, and I'm amazed to see it has been opened , maybe they had a 50 yr covenant on it. Very glad I looked for it up for you. House has hand hewn beams and doors , had only the one owner , all their stuff got left there, so worth checking out.
The bush had a few trees removed but is some of the most original bush in Auckland . It has one huge kauri, it would be the tallest in the area , the fattest is in the pointways pony club. My mother was at 164 Mill Rd , it has the tallest trees measured in Auckland council, so the council is going to knock them down for the highway ... Worth going for a drive up there, it has the best views in the area .
