Derry (Londonderry) / Re: Arthur Family, Aghadowey, County Derry
« on: Friday 26 August 22 07:36 BST (UK)  »
Hi All,
Thank you for this great service called “RootsChat” I look forwards to learning much here.

I would like to ask for some help to trace my Great-Great Grand-Mothers Family please..
My Great-Great Grand-Mothers name-:  Sarah Jane Arthur B: 1858 – D: 1881, Cathcart, Scotland

Her parents were James Arthur B: Circa 1832 and
Margaret Anne Savage B: Circa 1832 (noted as a weaver)
They were married in Coleraine, 23rd August 1852, they both seem to come from Aghadowey
in County Derry, they had a son named
Robert, Born circa 1853, although I cannot find any birth information for him.
Then the family immigrated to Cathcart, Scotland around 1855.

James Arthur’s parents were John Arthur (bleachfield worker) and Sarah Reid
and Margaret Anne Savage’s parents were Robert Savage and Elizabeth Murphy,
although I can’t seem to find anything about this generation, I wonder if they had other children and where they might have lived in Aghadowey?

Any help, or information on how to look would be greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks

Kind Regards
Rod, Melbourne, Australia

Hi Kris,
Nice to meet you on RootsChat (what a great service it is, Thank you)
I saw your posts about Elizabeth Wilson.
She pops up on my family tree as a quite distant relative
One of my family lines crosses yours, with John Wilson B: 1884
Elizabeth's older brother, he married Susan Shaw Wiltshire in 1911
in Renfrew, the Wiltshire's are my Grand-mothers line, she also
ended up in Australia (Melbourne), I am also in contact with
someone in that Wilson line too.
I hope we can chat about this.
Best luck on your family search.
Kind Regards
Rod, Melbourne, Australia
