The names you have said are my dad's line.

I'm completely new to this so don't know all the sites or where I need to go.

I'm taking it I look for either a roots.com Facebook page to try & find links?

I would really appreciate it if you could send me an email with links also incase I can't find these myself.

I feel a bit excited getting new stuff so that I can tell my dad.

Since I've took very ill myself I really get a bit of joy looking into my families past.

Thank you so much. Paul

I  found Drumlyn Hill on a map years ago, but the map was very hard to work with. I remember it somewhere in the Tullylish/Donaghcloney area, but see some on-line references to Guilford.  Would you list nearby townlands to make an easier search and list some descendents?  I have several George's in the 1800's and may be able to find earlier ones.

Drumlyn Hill is in Moyallen townland. Boarders Ballynagarrick townland. We count Drumlyn Hill as a crossroads on the main Gilford-Portadown road. About 2.5 miles from Gilford, 2 miles from Portadown.

Hello,

Alexander Chambers was a bachelor of about 43 when he married Mary Somerville who would have been about 23.

Alexander Chambers was my granny's father. From what we know he was 42 & Mary 22.

I sent you the information on James Wilson who married Annie Somerville.  Dates match within a year and my James and Annie also lived in Belfast.  They were back in Co. Armagh for the 1901 census, but I don't know where they eventually lived.

If you talk to Jim, you might ask if your Somervilles went to Christchurch as Wilsons went there.

Alexander Chambers was fairly old. Do you know if he were widowed?

Where can you find the Wilson Ballydougan family tree online?

Our road had a lot of different Wilson's living on it in 1800's. Just want to check if your tree is my family. Thanks if you can help on this.

James Chambers was my granny's dad. He married Mary Somerville 20 years younger. They had 10 children. He wasn't widowed just married old to a young thing. Seems strange in today's day & age but it happened.

Down / Re: Looking for Winchester family in Co Down

Winchester is an old name at Newmills Presbyterian Church.  A James Winchester was appointed Member of the session in 1797, i.e. one of the first elders;and one of the oldest 3 gravestones was said to be  for a Winchester, though I did not find it.  I am looking for Sarah Winchester born before 1800 and married to William McCleary with dau Charlotte.

A John was a weaver in Ballydougan and had son Christopher who married Jane Pollock.  One of their children was named Hamilton.  They sound related and were in Ballydougan. Shane Hill has been mentioned by others, not about fairies, and is probably in Ballydougan.  Need help on that.

James and Sarah had son James b Oct 1871 in Ballygargin.  Can't find the baptism record and don't know what church they used.  Sarah jane's father was Samuel.  A Samuel and Judith lived in Ballydougan and had children at the right time, but I am not seeing Sarah Jane's baptism.  She probably had sister Esther who married Robert Harrison and Mary who married Joseph Livingston at Knocknamuckley.  There may be another Samuel of Ballydougan who married Rebecca, but it is quite possible that somehow the Knocknamuckley  records are wrong and this  Samuel was really Lewis who, indeed, married a Rebecca.

I think the Rices were at Knocknamuckley Church of Ireland and Rootschat has messages from some families.

I can clear up "Shane's Hill". We call it Shane's Hill rock. It is the highest point in Ballydougan townland. It is currently a reservoir. It was also a place for public meetings in the 1800's.
