Mine seemed to be mainly in the Army, some in the Royal Sussex Regiment who have an excellent website.

Kerry I see you are researching 'Terry' in Kent, hope this helps:

Armed Forces / Re: Lookup offer for crimea and indian mutiny

Hello Kev

I would really appreciate it if you could look up for me the name of Roger Woods.  His rank I think was as a Sergeant and his was killed defending the Barelli Gates during the Indian Mutiny.  He left a wife, a son called Albert (I think) and a daughter, name unknown.

Regards

Bedfordshire / Re: Biggleswade Tingey family

Hi again Geoff,
I wrote today to you to say thankyou but also to explain that I already had the 1851 Census which you kindly typed out for me, and I managed to get a very very faint Census for the 1841 just by typing in Biggleswade and found William, Mary and their son James.  James in the 1851 was in Luton by that stage learning to be a Shoemaker. My problem is that I thought that Mary was Mary Huckle before marrying William, but that means she would have been born in 1802, but instead I find Mary was born in 1786 in Eaton Socon, parents unknown.  William is the other problem, I would dearly love to find his parents and siblings.  He was also born in 1786 but in Biggleswade.

thanks Sandy
As I have just replied to Geoffp's message I believe you may be right with the Mary Smith name which I also came up with two days ago.

as I told Geoff I found the Tingey's in the 1841 census just by putting the name Biggleswade in and it came up all be it very very faintly but enough for me to make out the name of William and Mary and James who at that time was about 7.  It confirmed my suspicions but added another quandry as I thought that Mary was a Huckle before marrying William.

Any more help would be greatly appreciated.

Bedfordshire / Biggleswade Tingey family
« on: Friday 26 May 06 11:46 BST (UK)  »
William and Mary Tingey - 1841 and 1851 Cowfairlands address.  Both born around 1786.  He in Biggleswade and she in Eaton Socon, her maiden name unknown.  Any information on both these people would be greatly appreciated.

Their son was James born 1833 Biggleswade who later ran the Public House in Saffron Rd.
