Hi there, I have a Claud Nimmo in my family tree but can find nothing about him. I have searched Scotland's People and can't find anything for him. I did find something online about a Stonemason born in Sorn, the information is below;
"Claude Nimmo (1790–1833)
Stonemason and carver. Born at Sorn, Ayrshire, he went on to become the ‘very clever workman’ (Lancaster Gazette) who carved the statue of John of Gaunt (1824) over the gate of Lancaster Castle from a plaster model made by Michael Angelo Rigby, also of the city. Hartwell and Pevsner have suggested that the statue of Justice (1818–21) at the castle’s Female Penitentiary may also be Nimmo’s work. He died at Lancaster in 1833."
But I can't find any birth, death or marraige certificates for a Claud Nimmo on Scotland's People.
