Oxfordshire Lookup Requests / Re: Jeremiah Howse - look up please
« on: Thursday 02 March 17 15:16 GMT (UK)  »
Thank you both.  Yes it was the igi 1808 marriage in St Giles Oxford to Sarah Allsop that made me wonder if he came from Oxfordshire.

I've had a look at the parish record for that on ancestry - sadly no ages or parents' names on there, but there are a couple of witnesses who i could follow up on.

One day I will get these Howses cracked!

Thanks, again.

Oxfordshire Lookup Requests / Jeremiah Howse - look up please
« on: Wednesday 01 March 17 22:46 GMT (UK)  »
On the 1841 census  there is a Jeremiah Howse (approx age 55) with wife Sarah (approx age 60) and son Willliam.  William was born in Worcestershire, but the other two were not.  I am wondering if they came from Oxfordshire.

I think this Jeremiah was born around 1782.  I have found a burial in 1850 of a 68-year old named Jeremiah Howse whose death was registered in Shipston on Stour Worcestershire (where my Howse family lived)

Could anybody please help by looking for either a birth or a marriage of Jeremiah.  Thank you.

Middlesbrough Reference Library have parish records on microfilm for 2 churches in Stockton Holy Trinity and St Thomas which record burials for 1927
They also have the Middlesbrough Evening Gazette on microfilm for 1927 which is apparently the most likely newspaper to look in.  Can anyone get to Middlesbrough for me please??

Thanks again to you all,

Oh dear, I was trying to keep the previous thread out of this as none of those names mentioned last time are the ones.  I didn't want to confuse anyone.  I think I just need someone with a clean sheet and a clear brain to have a look at names of people buried on those dates, without pre-judgments.

Thanks for trying to help though!

Durham Lookup Requests / stockton on tees church burials - look up please

Can anybody get to the records office for me please?

I'm looking for burials on July 8th, 9th or 10th 1927 in church burial grounds in (or around) Stockton on Tees.

From a newspaper article on findmypast's collection, I know that one of my relatives
Charles Adkins collapsed and died on July 8th 1927.  His wife Naomi Adkins (nee Law) was attending a "family funeral" in Stockton on Tees at the time. So i was curious as to whose funeral it might have been.

With the help of Rootschatters I have been in touch with Bereavement Services at Stockton Borough Council.  They have no-one buried in the Borough Cemeteries on those dates who is related to my family.  They suggested that i look at the churchyard burials, held by Durham County under the Durham Diocese records.  I can't do this online as the search engine requires a name - and a name is the very thing i  am looking for!

So if anybody could look at the burial records by date and let me know of any names they find I would be very grateful indeed.

Thank you!

You are trying so hard!  Thank you.  That is indeed her family - i have evidence of all their deaths/burials or proof that they were still alive in 1927 - except for her sister Mary (born 1868) who married Thomas Mills (born 1862)  I lost track of them after the 1891 census.  There is no Mills death for 1927 registered in the Stockton area though.

OK - what i know so far is (and this is from a newspaper article that i found on findmypast's collection)

Charles Adkins collapsed and died at Wath Main pit on July 8th 1927.  His wife Naomi Adkins (nee Law) was attending a "family funeral" in Stockton on Tees at the time. So i was curious as to whose funeral it might have been.  (i'd wondered about Hoyle when i found the name on freebmd, as there are a lot of links with that family.  it cannot be though)
