Hi, I have both my FIL and son's (my husband) DNA, from Ancestry. We have a continued quest to try and find my FIL's (now deceased) birth father. Is it worth getting my husbands brother to take a test, or am I just wasting my money (and false hope)? Thank you

As you have the fathers christian name & surname & the mothers christian name & maiden name - you should be able to find their marriage on www.freebmd.org.uk

And that appears not to exist CarolW though there is a part of me that thinks confirmation of it does exist somewhere!

We have a birth certificate where the birth is listed with the mothers first name and surname formally (another surname) ;.

Are you sure it says that?
And not "formerly"?

The 2 words have different meanings! ;)

Oops, yes formerly !!!
