It's a day cap much favoured by older women.
From the little we can see I would suggest 1870's.

Thanks Jim!

Is there a specific name for this type of headwear? I don't think it's called a hat. Also about what date?

Anyone able to decipher this? From an old book that belonged to my mother. I believe the third word is her name (Brigitte)

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Year Range For This USA Portrait?
« on: Wednesday 07 August 24 15:37 BST (UK)  »
Only a little clothing showing to go on, but any guess on the year range for this crayon portrait?
Based on the frame I am guessing around 1900.

Purchased from a thrift store in Illinois (USA)

If it helps what you have are 2 photo enlargements that
have been over-sketched due to loss of definition.
It looks like 1890's going by the woman's dress style.
I would suggest they are in their 40's.

Thanks Jim!

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Some Research Guidance Please
« on: Monday 20 May 24 20:15 BST (UK)  »
Need some help with

1. Deciphering some writing
2. Suggestions for researching (free if possible) to see if I could find out first names

Kumener
Virta Ave UNKNOWN Pabst Farm
Does this seem right?
(not sure about the word before Pabst)

The crayon portraits were purchased about 50 miles from what used to be Pabst Farm
Pabst is/was a famous Milwaukee (USA) beer brewer

Suggestions on how to best research further?
