Hi,

Following my research on the Great Western Hotel, I am currently writing a book on the history of the hotel, certainly it being the town's first purpose-built hotel. Not sure if this thread is still active, I noticed that there are photos of the Hooper family, If you have any photos of the hotel or the Hooper family that would be relevant to the hotel that I could use in the publication that would be great!

You can contact me directly through the hotel, email on the website -  https://greatwesternnewquay.co.uk/visit-us/

Many thanks,

William  :)

The Great Western Hotel opened in April 1879 for businessman, Mr Henry Whitefield. The original building was designed by Cornish Architect Silvanus Trevail. It was Mr Whitefield who applied a licence for it to be called "Great Western" months prior to its opening.
