Thank you Michael for contacting me about this record.    I have not found that many records for the Selby/Soulsby (Rothbury)families online. Where did you find the information?

Take care,

Hi Rick,
  I am related to Ann Mather Finlayson who was born in England to Ann Selby and Ralph Mather. Ann Mather and her family moved to The Scotch Settlement of Quebec then to Detroit Michigan. I read your posting and I noticed that Samuel was married in the same town that Ann's grandfather came from.  I do not have any information about Samuel but maybe this is the same Mather family?

Ann's father was Ralph Mather b. 12 May 1782 Lucker, Northumberland, d. 2 Nov 1861 Quebec; Buried 5 Nov 1861 Beechridge Presbyterian Cemetery.
Grandparents : James Mather b. 20 Dec 1747 Belford, Northumberland, m. Elizabeth Unknown, est 1774
Grandparents: Andrew Mather b. 18 Oct 1719 Belford and Elizabeth Anderson b. abt 1724 Bamburgh, Northumberland;
married 1745 Bamburgh

Source: I was sent this information by Jack McGinty.

I live in the United States and I am not familier with the family history resources in England.  I am looking for Church records,bio and family histories for the Selby family who owned the Biddlestone Hall/Chapel.  I do not know anything on the Selby/Soulsby families except a few names and dates.  I am related to Ann Selby who married Ralph Mather.  Ann Selby was the daughter of Thomas Selby chr. 4 Nov 1770 and Elizabeth Soulsby chr. 25 Feb 1771.

Any help you could provide would be wonderful.
Take Care,
Melissa
