Thank you!! This is great information!

There are Semples and Mackays mentioned in the branch related to James Bryson d. 1832 Plot 164 Kilbride. I think through his son John 1773-1841. His daughter Elizabeth married a William Mackay. Robert Bryson who married Ellen McConnell was his son according to my records.

I know I have relatives for Ann McConnell but whether they're correct or not is a guess. Your information fills in nicely.

Funny, I had my Brysons open after time spent on my Conner ancestors, a large and wieldly group. I will look at it closer.

I still don't know how James Bryson d.1832 Plot 164 is related to me. The current Ballyvoy residents are directly related to him. I'm guessing he was a cousin of John W or something like that.

Again, thank you!!

Thanks!! I will move Mary Bryson Bell over to James and Ann with a before 1836 birthdate. Maybe that will yield a Bell. I'll make a note on the entry with the information you provided.  It's much appreciated.  I'm playing catch up with this and other Bryson requests....not related to John W.

Sorry...very early here in the U.S.

If she is the "children of my son James deceased" then her birthdate couldn't have been later than 1836. If the definite date of Mary Bell is 1837 then she is not the daughter of James Bryson d. 1835 and Ann McConnell.  Where did the 1837 birthdate come from?  That Ann's death was registered by Mary's husband is definitely a clue. However, if that 1837 birthdate is fact Mary could not be James's daughter based on the very definite dates in John W's 1836 will. If the birthdate is an estimate time-frame like many from that Era are then she very well could be.

To bad John W didn't name the children of James in his will or list the mother of his grandson James Milford.

Thank you for the information.  If Mary Bell was the other child of James Bryson d 1835 and Ann McConnell then her birthdate could not have been 1837. John W Bryson died in February 1836 and James was already deceased. Children of James and that James is deceased is from the 1836 will. It's possible Mary's birthdate to be 1836 if Ann was pregnant at the time of James's death and his death was in mid to late 1835 (his sister Jane Bryson Ferguson died in January 1835). If Ann was pregnant in late 1835 and got word to John W about his son's death then Mary

Back to Mary Bryson Bell b. 1837.  I really think she was the daughter of James Bryson and Martha Ann McConnell not James Bryson and Ann McConnell. I think James and Ann had Robert 1830-31 and maybe one other before James died in 1835. Of course no one is yielding any names from the grave.  ;)

Pezzy, if you can send me your husband's name I'll check to see if he matches either Jay or me.  You have my email address so you can send it there.

Regarding #172  Catching up…I haven’t been getting notifications.

The line from James Bryson through Robert and his children is correct. The Mary Bryson Bell as Robert’s sister connection I’m not sure about only because of the birthdate. If it was 1835 or earlier it’s probably good. John W. Bryson lists children of my son James deceased in his will and John W died in February 1836. So by early 1836 he knew there was more than one grandchild and that his son was deceased. Since mail from Ireland to Western Pennsylvania was probably not fast it confuses me how Mary could be James’s daughter if she was born after 1835. Speculation is that James died the same year as his sister Jane Ferguson…1835.

John W Bryson’s (my 4th ggf) son James married Ann McConnell in 1829 at 1st Donegore. Robert was born about 1830-31.

I no longer think my James Bryson married Martha McConnell…according to the tombstone at Kilbride a James Bryson married Martha McConnell in 1832 and that James Bryson was the son of Andrew Bryson.

I now have a DNA link to the O’Haras, the Fosters and the Gordons. My cousin Jay has links to the O’Haras (Laurel Wilson) and the Gordon’s. All the matches are quite small.

It would certainly help if we could find our James's grave. We know he existed and have DNA matches to his grandchildren but no burial. There are unmarked graves at Kilbride so maybe he's buried in one of those.

I would contact Etta for that branch. I have it entered into Ancestry as she gave it to me.
