Lanarkshire / Re: Anyone by the surname Mundell
« on: Sunday 27 February 11 10:39 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
My Great Grandfather was Robert James Mundell and he was married to Margaret Brown.
Their daughter, Margaret Stella(Grant) Brown is my grandmother.  She was born Nov. 18,1885 in Glasgow Scotland.
I was wondering if there might be a connection.

Margaret
I am building the Mundell family tree and would be interested to hear from anyone with that surname or anyone who knows of any Mundell's.

Any information would be gratefully received Scruffy

United States of America / to all family members ofJames Horatio Lockhart
« on: Wednesday 03 November 10 15:41 GMT (UK)  »
I would like to clear up a few points regarding James Horatio Lockhart.I am the 5th grt grandson of James Lockhart whowas born 1/4/1647 he Married Margaret Burnet 26/12/1672 and went to America.

I live in the hart of Lockhart country ie Lanark Scotland and I have been researching the Lockhart's for years, I can see the the Lockhart s estate from my house and I have had many hours spent  researching with the Laird of Cleghorn ,Capt Richard Lockhart

First James's mother was not Anna Elphinstone his father Robert was married twice his first wife was Anna Fleeming and they married 14.12/1661 in Edinburgh Scotland James was their son. Robert and Anna Elphilstone did have a son James born about 1655 but he died in 1661 and he is buried in Grayfriars Graveyard Edinburgh beside his father.

After many years of research of the Lockharts I can assure you that there was never any person born in Scotland be the name of James Horatio Lockhart my own opinion is that Horatio was a nickname given to him by his troops  on the way over to America and the nickname stuck.

I hope this clears up what is a mistake on most of the Lockhart trees in America

I have documentary proof of everything I say ie Birth ,Marriage and Death certificates , also Robert Lockharts Will's

Have checked index Coleraine Chronicle (births, deaths, marriages 1844-1869), Londonderry Sentinel (1829-1869), and Register of St. Columb's in Derry (1703-1732) and none of the names are listed.
There is no townland in County Londonderry called Inbrano.
I Have found a handwritten Glasgow Census that shows the birth place of William Mundele  as you will recall the typed version states Inbrano  but it doesn't look like that to me on the written one ,I tried to attach a line from this census but it wont go it is to large   can you give me any guidance on how to attach such a file.
