Glamorganshire / Desperatley seeking Williams....
« on: Friday 12 June 09 16:22 BST (UK)  »
How long have I been waiting for the 1911 census for Wales to finally be completed.... I am pulling my hair out trying to find ALL my Williams family to no avail, my Grandmother being Margaret Maria Williams, born 1909, not sure where, as the family seemed to be either in and around Cardiff or Bristol. Her parents were Margaret Maria Green, her father Albert Henry Williams, originally from Port Royal in Jamaica.  Her parents were married in Pontypridd in 1901, she has 4 siblings, Florence May born 1903, Elsie Victoria, Henry, and Lillian, not sure when they were born or where,  I can find no records for anyone other than the marriage certificate.  I lived in hope that they would somewhere be listed on the 1911 census, but again can't find any of them for either England or Wales.  I think Florence has been listed as living with her grandparents listed as their daughter, born in Bristol, now living in Llanbradach which is where all the family were brought up, a definate fact.  So... where can I go now to find anything on them?  I do know my great grandparents information so I do have the tree in detail, however I would like proof positive/documentation of their connection through my grandmother and her siblings other than verbal knowlegde as my grandmother died back in 76 and my greatgrandmother in the early 80's, long before I got in full swing with doing my tree.  Any ideas would be appreciated, Thanks, C

Berkshire / Re: All Chaplin's in Berkshire
« on: Monday 27 April 09 09:39 BST (UK)  »

Hi to both Samantha and Gary.
Edward Chaplin was christened 8 March 1767 and was from Finchampstead, not too far from Easthampstead, Esther/Hester Cock was christened I believe in 1771, I don't have my records to hand at the mo.  These details came from the IGI and census records. I have noted (as there were so many Chaplins, often with the same name )that this is the ONLY Edward Chaplin listed in Berkshire for this era with that name and his son Henry was also the only one for the area.  Edward was the g,g,g,g,grandfather of my husband. Hope this helps and confirms your information,

Regards, Carol
Hi Samantha

I am related to the Chaplins through my mother's mother's mother!  I have a question relating to your reply above.

You write that:  "William Chaplin 1801 father was Edward Chaplin 1770 and his mother was Esther/ Hester Cock B1764 ".  I have the following dates for Edward Chaplin (1763) and Esther/Hester Cock (1771).  My information comes from Dale Headington and I'm not sure where he found it!  I was wondering where your info comes from and if it's more reliable than his!

Kent / Brenchley of Rochester
« on: Tuesday 31 March 09 15:05 BST (UK)  »
Anyone have any Brenchley's around the Rochester area?  I have a Sarah Brenchley born 1809 in Rochester, according to the IGI she was born to George and Mary Brenchley.  The census records confirm she was from Rochester, however I can find no records for her parents being from or married from there so possibly came from elsewhere in Kent, as there seems to be a fair few from the Kent area.  Any help will be appreciated, Regards, Elrowe
