Suffolk Lookup Requests / Re: Marriage Burgess-Vincent, Fressingfield 1832
« on: Friday 26 September 14 08:57 BST (UK)  »
Thanks Keziah, the 1802 marriage is the one I havnt been able to find.

The marriage James Stanton,Sarah Smith is correct, on the registers, james is of Weybread.  Believe james's parents to be Jacob Stanton/Lydia Godbold (later Lydia Chase), Weybread registers appear to be missing/incomplete 1754-1768 although it would be interesting to go back to the originals in the Suffolk Office ( unfortunately I'm a bit far away to do that).  Thus the interest in the Burgess link.

Thank you both for your reply.  It is looking like Lydia for this marriage is a spinster as  listed.

The problem I have is there are two Lydia Burgess deaths in the NBI for Stradbroke.  The eldest, died 1861 aged 80, giving a birth abt 1780/1.  In the 1851 census she is the 'sister in law' of Sarah Stanton (wife of James); which suggests Lydia Chase b1780 Weybread (from a subsequent marriage).  I have been unable to find the marriage, (or a  series) that would confirm the relationship.  A gap in the Weybread Pr's adds to the problem (no bapt for James).

Warwickshire Lookup Requests / Re: John Hewitt, loxley, Warwickshire
« on: Monday 24 February 14 19:59 GMT (UK)  »
Thanks Claire

That eliminates one possibility, need now to check some of the others nearby (Ettington, Combrook, Alveston, etc ) I know there was one at Wellesborne 1763 and most the likely at Lighthorne 1765.  There seem to be many Hewitt families in the area, not all transcribed that I would like to eliminate. Births close together in adjacent towns is a problem.
Thanks had been working on that marriage as the most likely.

Looking for a John Hewitt 'of Loxley' for his marriage 1793.  Birth about 1765, would like to know if he came from Loxley or nearby and his parents and siblings.  If anyone has the loxley PR's appreciate if they could lookup, presently little transcribed.

Thanks Ross

Norfolk Lookup Requests / Re: Gorleston births 1743

Presumably you have the marriage in St John Timberhill Norwich 26/2/1770 from familysearch.

Two possibles from Famsearch:- Robt Stanton 17/3/1744 Cantley, Buckenham, Norfolk (west of Norwich), parents Thos/Elizb.

There is also a Robert Stanton birth in Wrentham 16/4/1745 which looks possible also.  It seem likely that this Robert traces back to a Stanton family in Flixton late 1600's/early 1700's.  I have been trying to find our link to that family (Weybread branch/Flixton family) but I am missing a vital link.  I would be interested to see what other Stanton links you have in the area, particularly around the late 1700's.

The first is closer to Gorleston.  Occupation may be useful.

Suffolk Lookup Requests / Re: Baptism - James STANTON c1767
« on: Wednesday 15 October 08 05:45 BST (UK)  »
Thanks Rick.  have had a reply from the Weybread contact and also viewed the CofE transcripts available from lds, but not found.  The Stanton 'family' seem to have interests (milling and farming) in a number of townships nearby from the late 1600's.  With some 45 parishes within a 4 mile radius (many independents), the target is a bit elusive.  The marriage was 1796 St Cross, my error.  Sarah, the first child was baptised in Redenhall, James and family then moved to Pulham.
I am hoping that someone may have a magic touch to help!

Norfolk Lookup Requests / Needham/Starston - Stanton
« on: Monday 13 October 08 23:58 BST (UK)  »
Looking for the baptism for James Stanton (born about 1767-1770), of Weybread, married at St Cross South Elmham, 1796 to Sarah Smith.  Died Pulham 1829, miller.  Not found in Weybread CofE registers.  Family in both Norfolk and Suffolk especially close to the border (from late 1600's on).

Would appreciate if someone could check the Needham and Starston registers for his birth (and any other syblings).

Also if anyone has the 'independent' church registers for Weybread or close parishes.
