Oh, it's not going to be a marriage in Carrick on Suir. It's Youghal (Youghalarra) in Co. Tipperary, in the Nenagh area. And, he may well have changed his name to Richard when he left Ireland, so that might not be a certain thing.

Hi all,

I've been searching for my great grandfather for a while. His name was Richard Quinn and he apparently left Ireland as a teenager, ended up in Hereford, England, and apparently, didn't like to talk much about Ireland.

He lists his date of birth of 1871 in Youghal, Co. Tipperary on various UK documents. His wedding certificate lists his father as James Quinn, with occupation of "miner." He was illiterate until meeting my great-grandmother some years later, so who knows if his date of birth is correct or, even, if he changed his name or other details when he left Ireland. Anyway, James Quinn and Eliza Hogan are among my best guesses for who his parents could have been.

I'd be excited to get in touch with those of you who are related to them!
